Thursday saw Emma Watson fans freaking out when the actress began trending. Of course, when a celebrity trends on Twitter, everyone goes straight into panic mode, but thankfully Emma’s name wasn’t connected to the worst news anyone can think of…but perhaps to the second worse.
Emma is alive and kicking…back. Word on the street after a Daily Mail article was published, was that Emma, at the ripe old age of 30 has retired from acting. The article suggested the Brit would be leaving her acting career behind in order to focus on her partner, Leo Robinton. “
Has Emma Watson quit acting?
Emma Watson has gone ‘dormant’ according to her agent. That appears to be movie-speak for she’s ‘given up acting’,” the article said.
Fans who haven’t seen Emma on screen since 2019’s Little Women worried that now she has coupled up with Leo she wants to settle down and start a family, leaving Hollywood behind.
But never fear!
According to Emma’s agent, Jason Weinberg, The Daily Mail misinterpreted what part of Emma’s life is dormant. Weinberg confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that it’s the Harry Potter star’s social media accounts that are dormant not her career.
Watson’s Instagram bio reads, “Emma’s official Instagram page is currently dormant and is not being updated.” Her last post is from June 2020. Watson also hasn’t updated her Twitter since August 2020.
Phew! It seems Emma is just following what seems to be a celebrity trend of quitting social media
It’s more than likely fans haven’t seen much of Emma because she is doing the socially responsible thing and quarantining with Leo during the Covid-19 pandemic. Famously uncomfortable with the spotlight, we’re sure Emma will return to acting once she has found a role that speaks to her.
