Queen Camilla turns 77 today, and this occasion calls for a special celebration. King Charles’s wife’s birthday called for royal tradition as the Abbey bells rang in her honor.

Queen Camilla Has Been An Anchor For Charles During His Cancer Battle

Born on July 17th, 1947, the Queen Consort is a couple of years older than Charles, but that bit of extra age only adds to her wisdom.

The bells of Westminster Abbey are where Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in April 2011. The royal bells only chime for a few select birthdays a year.

While the Queen Camilla is settled and the King’s health appears to be settling, 2024 has been a tumultuous year for the Queen, to say the least.

Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in February, and it’s been difficult for the royal family to cope with the challenges that a slimmed-down monarchy has presented.

This year has proven to be a double whammy, as Princess Kate was also diagnosed with cancer. Camilla has helped a great deal with royal engagements and public duties.

The public, who once detested Camilla, has come to accept her and embrace her. It took many years of hard work, and now Camilla has a high approval rating and the admiration of the Commonwealth.

The scandals of the past have long been forgotten about, and she’s risen above all the harsh words and abuse she had to endure after Princess Diana died.

One person who famously had difficulty with Charles moving on and marrying Camilla was Charles’ mother, Queen Elizabeth.

She was referred to as Camilla Parker Bowles until she officially wed the future King in April 2005. Camilla and Charles were divorcees, so they married in a simple ceremony at Windsor Guildhall.

Many people who compared her to Diana in the past thought she’d never measure up. But while Diana can never be replaced, the scope of the monarchy has changed.

    A Blessing From Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth aspired for Camilla to be recognized as Queen Consort when Charles took the throne. In a touching message released on social media on the evening before the Queen’s 70th anniversary of becoming Queen, she said,

“When in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife, Camilla, the same support that you have given me, and it is my sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her loyal service.”

In recent years, Camilla has been Charles’s steady rock and support system. The King has faced the worst, and she has never left his side.

Charles is known as a hopeless romantic, and Camilla is known as an unapologetic realist. That may not sound like a good match on paper, but the royal couple somehow managed to make it work.

Camilla is spending her birthday this year with Charles, and they will be on a significant royal outing, as the State Opening of Parliament coincides with her birthday.

Camilla is everything the King could ask for and more. She’s fierce, loyal, loving, and most of all, she has an impeccable sense of duty to the crown.
