Today, King Charles turns 76, and as His Majesty, the self-professed workaholic, worked on his birthday, we reflect on the challenging year he’s had and those in the royal family who have supported him and brought him through it.

In honor of King Charles’s 76th birthday, Prince William and Princess Catherine took to social media. They sent a heartfelt message and a picture of him during his visit to Samoa, looking very dapper with his adornment of a ceremonial garland.

King Charles Was Diagnosed With Cancer This Year

As the King worked in London today, gun salutes rang throughout the capital to mark the occasion. He has opened two Coronation Food Project Hubs in Deptford, South London, and Merseyside. The hubs will distribute food to food banks, community centers, and schools as part of the project.

Early this year, the King was diagnosed with cancer. In January, he was said to have a corrective prostate procedure, and in February, he announced that he had an undisclosed form of cancer and was in treatment.
Kate Middleton was also diagnosed with cancer after a planned stomach surgery. She revealed her diagnosis with an unidentified form of cancer in March.

Since then, Charles and Kate have become closer based on a mutual understanding of the devastating diagnosis. The King has depended on his daughter-in-law, Kate, and his wife, Queen Camilla, for support.

His eldest son and successor to the throne, Prince William, has stepped up to help. The slimmed-down monarchy has been challenged because His Majesty and the Princess of Wales have taken time off to recover from treatment.

Unfortunately, the King’s relationship with his youngest son, Prince Harry, is severely damaged. Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, live in Montecito, California, with their children, Archie and Lilibet.

Harry has been battling the UK government over his downgraded security. He thought he could drag his father into his legal mess, hoping he would have sway over the situation.

William, Kate, And Camilla Provide A Valuable Support System

Harry pretty much blackmailed King Charles, saying that he won’t be able to see his grandchildren if he didn’t have taxpayer-funded protection when he visited Britain. Princes William and Harry have been at odds for years.

Charles and Kate’s close bond has helped them during their respective cancer battles. This year, it was evident at Trooping the Color in June.

Instead of standing beside William, the monarch stood next to Kate. It was her first public appearance since Christmas. The King and the Princess of Wales also have shared interests, including art.

Charles has always had a special relationship with Kate. When they were both in the hospital, they compared notes on the hospital food during their meetings about their cancer treatments.

King Charles stood next to Kate not William

Princess Catherine also plays a vital role in the relationship between the King and her children, George, Louis, and Charlotte. She’s also helped to facilitate better communication between the King and her husband, William.

Over the past few months, Camillia has been credited with “keeping the royal show on the road.” She fills in at key events when Charles is too sick to make it and is an excellent source of comfort to the King.

She has attended back-to-back engagements on several occasions and does it with a smile on her face every time.
It’s clear that despite the royal rift, King Charles is blessed with a sound support system from his oldest son, his daughter-in-law, and his wife.
