After striking up an unlikely friendship on twitter, the artist Grimes and Lil Uzi Vert have decided to get brain chips together. I know what you’re thnking because I was thinking it too – is that a real thing?! Not yet, but it will be. What are brain chips, you ask? Apparently it’s Elon Musk’s attempt to combat dementia and other mental diseases by implanting a chip in one’s brain.
There’s not much on how it works other than that it combats dementia, I’m guessing it stores your memories on a hard drive somewhere like something out of a science fiction movie and then only you can access them.

Is anybody else getting ‘Nam flashbacks of those weird 90’s Christian-themed armageddon-type movies where they implant your brain with a chip and suddenly you’re under the control of The Evil One? Yeah, just me probably.
Besides, let’s not ruin this for the kids, if they want to store all their memories on a cloud drive somewhere, let them, Although, I’m not sure that I would want go undergo experimental brain surgery for a chip that could possibly fail, or maybe even malfunction. The thing is we don’t know anything about the way this chip works really.
I’d be interested to know about how the technology actually works and how it actually claims to combat any sort of mental disorder the patient may have. If it works, it could be revolutionary in mental health, if it’s just a fancy schmancy memory storage device then…
I’m not sure the actual point of it. I hope that Grimes and Lil’ Uzi do a lot of research first before getting any sort of experimental surgery, especially brain surgery.
They even set a date for it! Well, a rough date at least, they said that they want it done sometime in 2022, provided the technology is ready by then. I don’t know I’m still not past the whole “brain chips exist” thing yet and likely won’t be for awhile.
I would be afraid of messing with anything to do with my brain, also, Musk needs to be careful, while he may have the best of intentions with these brain chips, they should only be trusted in the hands of very seasoned professionals. Yike!!! Stay tuned!!!
