General Hospital spoilers suggest that Kai Taylor’s (Jens Austin Astrup) misplaced loyalty to Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) makes us question whether there is a deeper reason for his Drew devotion.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Drew Paid For Kai’s Surgery
Drew gave Kai the opportunity to try to play football again after he suffered a career-ending injury. Drew paid for Kai to have a cutting-edge, experimental surgery.
Unfortunately, the surgery didn’t work, but Kai was able to walk again. Despite the fact that Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) blamed Drew for Kai getting his hopes up with no payoff, Kai was very generous with Drew.
Kai told Drew that he understood the risks and that he knew there was no guarantee that his procedure would be successful.
However, Kai’s then-girlfriend, Trina, wasn’t so forgiving. Trina tried to accept Kai’s friendship and admiration toward Drew, but Kai’s betrayal of her family was the dealbreaker.
Kai overheard Trina’s parents, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), talking about their plan to find the sex worker Drew partied with, Jacinda (Paige Herschell).
They wanted to pay her to lie to say that she slept with Drew and that it was his idea to take the ketamine. Kai thought he was saving face by going to Curtis to admit that he sold him out.
Curtis explained to him that while he understood Kai’s reasons, he would have to tell Trina what he did. Trina lashed out at Kai and broke up with him on the spot.
Kai never apologized for telling Drew the truth, which ended up backfiring on Curtis and Portia as Drew’s blackmail continued and only grew worse and more horrifying.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Trina And Several Other People Warned Kai About Drew
Trina had warned Kai repeatedly that Drew was bad news, but Kai refused to listen. Additionally, Kai attended Drew and Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) wedding that never happened, and he heard Willow rip him to shreds at the altar.
The truth about Drew sleeping with Willow’s mother, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), came out. We wondered if that would sway Kai.
However, all he could say was that “people make mistakes.” Kai’s willingness to believe solely in the good Drew has shown him has alienated him from his girlfriend and others who came to care for him.
Yet, somehow, Kai has proven himself to be the only friend Drew has. Some fans on social media have posed a theory that they think Kai may be Drew’s long-lost son.
We don’t know much about Kai other than his previous relationship with Trina and that he used to love playing football.
Kai’s family has never been introduced. Generally, it’s a good idea for soaps to link their stray characters to core families or characters. We know GH is famous for doing this.
After all, Giovanni Palmeri (Giovanni Mazza) was revealed to be Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) son, the show may be gearing up for the reveal that Kai is related to someone in Port Charles.
It would actually make sense for Kai to be related to Drew somehow after putting Congressman Caine on such a high pedestal.
