‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Tip Brings Charges
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) called in an anonymous trip to the SEC about insider trading. There was a possible merger ahead and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain got involved in buying some stock in preparation for that merger.
The merger never happened, and they ended up losing money. They did not gain anything in the enterprise.
However, what they did was not legal (acting on some inside information to make financial decision). Drew decided that he needed to do all he could to make sure that Carly did not spend any time in prison.
He planned to plead guilty so that Carly would not be arrested and so that he would receive a more lenient term at a minimum-security facility.
The judge was not having it. He saw the deal that everyone agreed to which involved a fine and then a jail term in minimum-security for 6 months. Instead of imposing that sentence, he decided to give Drew three years at a maximum-security facility (penitentiary).
The news shocks everyone. They expected it to work out much differently. That was true for Drew too, who only planned to be away from his daughter Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante) for a few months. Now things are much more complicated.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: What is Next?
Is there anyone who can help? The judge promised to talk to Drew’s lawyer, Zeke Robinson (Gavin Houton), after Drew is remanded in custody. The judge has given Drew one week to get his affairs in order.
He had to surrender his passport, but he has a little time to make arrangements for his business and his daughter. The judge is not willing to meet with Zeke until Drew is locked up.
