‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicates that Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) is just messed up when it comes to the women in his life. Why is he struggling so much with setting boundaries with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl). Is it because he doesn’t want to set them?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Third Wheel
Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) is tired of feeling neglected. Spencer is actually living with Esme and they are co-parenting Ace Prince-Cassadine (Jay & Joey Clay). He is doing this because he doesn’t want his brother to grow up without a father figure in his life. Their father, Nicholas Cassadine (Adam Huss) is M.I.A.
Spencer and Esme used to be a thing and Esme was seriously twisted. But she experienced amnesia and doesn’t remember what she did in the past. Spencer hasn’t forgotten, but he is trying to cut her some slack as she parents Ace on her own. She is also acting better than she used to, so for the moment, he has no evidence that she really does remember all she did.
The problem is that they are living together to raise Ace and Ace requires a lot of care. This means that Trina is always playing second fiddle. They don’t get much alone time together and their relationship is under strain because of the time he has to devote to his brother.
Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) sees how this is impacting Trina and believes she should get out of the relationship. Her best friend Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) has serious concerns about this too. They contend that Trina deserves more.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Drawing Lines
Spencer just seems incapable of or unwilling to establish boundaries with Esme. He plans a romantic meal with Trina and Esme thinks it is for her.
When she comments on the food he doesn’t say, “I’m sorry, this is for Trina and I.” He doesn’t say a word. When Trina arrives, there is awkwardness because it is only at that point that Esme realizes it isn’t for her.
Spencer is kind of being a louse in this situation. When she commented on the food, he could easily have told her that Trina was on the way and he planned this for them. He could also set dates when he is unavailable to watch Ace and help arrange support for Esme if she needs it during that time.
Helping to find a sitter for those times when he is going to be with Trina would mean that he has no worry about being pulled away and leaving his girlfriend alone…again.
He just doesn’t seem to be willing to make things crystal clear for Esme. Why would he not be doing that? Does he still have feelings for her that he is not admitting? She is starting to get uncomfortable with the arrangement since she has asked Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) if she rents the rooms at Kelly’s out.
But it sure would help if Spencer stepped up and did what he needed to in order to protect his relationship with Trina. It would help Esme too, and he doesn’t seem to realize or care.
