‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Maurice Benard’s New Movie Debuts On Lifetime Network
Maurice, who is best known for his role as Port Charles mob boss Sonny Corinthos, is set to play real-life mobster John Gotti in the film Victoria Gotti: My Father’s Daughter. According to ABC Soaps in Depth, the highly anticipated movie will premiere on the Lifetime network on February 9. The film was executive produced by Victoria Gotti herself. The docudrama takes a look at her life behind the scenes, and how she grew up in the lavish but often dangerous mob world with the father that she adored.

Maurice said that landing the role of John Gotti felt like a dream come true. He recently said during a fan event, “I got a call on a Saturday night and they said, ‘You got the role of John Gotti. You’ve got to do a Bronx accent. And you’re going to age between 20 and 60.’ I said, ‘Well, I’m 55!’ They said, ‘Do you want the role? And by the way, you have 48 hours.”

Clearly, Maurice accepted the role and by Monday morning he was on a plane to Canada. He added, “It was the most difficult, hardest thing I’ve ever done in my career. But it looks incredible. It’s going to be a great movie.”
