Like most fans, ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers expected Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) to return to Salem with news about Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman)’s death.
Unfortunately, it was more a bait and switch as Tracy’s breakdown that was teased for the Friday, December 8 episode was over mourning Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary)’s death after getting his affairs in order.
Since it was announced Luke was killed off on January 2, 2022’s episode, it’s been a long time since then, and with Bobbie there struggling to get things organized it was reasonable to expect this to be the announcement that Bobbie passed away.
But it looks like we have to wait a while yet.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Waiting on the writers?
One of the theories going around for the delay in moving forward and paying respect to Bobbie was that the show wanted to wait for their writers to return from the WGA strike.
This is understandable, but the replacement writers did a better job in many fans’ eyes, including ours, and we think they deserved a chance to do their thing.
The biggest issue now is timing with the excitement about to pick up having Bobbie’s passing being announced in the coming weeks would be tricky, so this was probably the best time to do it.
Everyone deserves to send Bobbie off in style and remember the memories Jacklyn brought us over the years, and their could be a twist coming to work her into the current storyline.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Using Bobbie to further Pikeman’s agenda
One thing the show could do is copy what ‘Days of Our Lives’ did with Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston)’s passing and turn it into a mystery/manipulation storyline.
Since ‘DOOL’ shoots roughly six months in advance, it makes sense it took them so long to announce Victor’s death, but ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers are less forgiving here because it could’ve been done before now.
And given the current storylines, it’s possible they could have her die or even be killed by a Pikeman operative to shake Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).
This would allow Mr. Brennan (Charles Mesure) the chance to be there for her since Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) will be in Australia on business.
It’d give Mr. Brennan a way in, so to speak, to help further his business relationship with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and keep an eye on Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
Not exactly the way we envisioned honoring Bobbie, but if done right this could be a good storyline.
