‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Was Dawn of Day inspired by NXIVM?

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers tells that this is probably the most obvious question in the world, but in 2019, ‘General Hospital’ had a storyline about a cult called Dawn of Day, and that cult was amazingly similar to a lot of the things that they say went on in the NXIVM cult.

Think about it, NXIVM started out as a self-help organization to help people succeed in business. Dawn of Day seemed to have a bit more of a psychological self-help slant to it, but it was still touted as a self-help organization.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Was Dawn of Day inspired by NXIVM?

Both NXIVM and Dawn of Day had cult leaders who seemed to focus on women in particular, who seemed to want to be surrounded by a harem of women. You have to admit that Raniere and Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) certainly did have a yen for having a lot of women around.

They also seemed to be a big fan of having plural relationships, which was apparently a thing in the NXIVM cult as well. Willow Tate-Corinthos (Katelyn Macmullen) described her Mother as a “seeker”, as did India Oxenberg of her Mother, Catherine Oxenberg.

In fact both girls were originally introduced to the cult by their Moms. Of course, thankfully, art was not imitating life when Catherine Oxenberg broke free of the cult before her daughter did and decided she couldn’t be associated with it anymore. Harmony “Lorraine” Miller (Inga Cadranel) was a complete simp for Shiloh.

Dawn of Day did go down the same scary path that NXIVM did by demanding extremely sensitive personal information from their members. Information that Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) ponied up without much hesitation and then afterward was drugged and almost assaulted by Shiloh Archer.

Fortunately sister Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) was on the case and got her out before things could get too uncomfortably far. Unfortunately, there was no Sam McCall for India because after working with a therapist for over 50 hours she has finally admitted that something sexual did go on between her and Raniere.

So did art imitate life? Somewhat. Rainiere got 120 years in prison but Shiloh got killed by a roadflare, its hard to say who got the most fitting ending there. Hopefully, neither ever return. Stay tuned!!!
