‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that in 2023, GH fans received an early Christmas gift in October. Rena Sofer reprised her role as Lois Cerullo on the soap.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Fans Are Clamoring for More Lois
Sofer played Lois from December 1993 to September 1996. She also did a couple of guest stints in 1997. Lois has been a fan favorite for years.
Even after Sofer left the show, fans would stop her in the street, telling her they missed her character. There isn’t anyone on daytime soaps quite like Lois: strong, unique, loyal, outspoken, and wrapped up in a pretty package, complete with a Brooklyn accent. Don’t get us started on those nails!
The burning question on many fans’ minds is whether or not their beloved Lois will be sticking around. Sofer recently addressed these concerns,
“My husband and I are planning to move to the East Coast, and you know, I just thought, when I moved here, one of my first big jobs was General Hospital. It felt full circle for one of my last jobs in Los Angeles while I live here to be General Hospital and doing this character that I love so much,”
Sofer explained.
Most fans want to see Lois become a full-time character once again. The show would be crazy to pass up the chance for Sofer to return to the canvas as a regular.
Sofer has ultimately agreed to 30 episodes, or in other words, about six months. Sofer has said that she isn’t going to be a long-term character again. Currently, Sofer’s plan is still to move with her husband to the East Coast.
Lois has shaken things up since she returned to Port Charles. She quickly became a hero to many fans when she spilled Nina Reeves‘s (Cynthia Watros) SEC secret.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Lois Bravely Opened Up Pandora’s Box
Lois may have betrayed her BFF, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), but she came through for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), whom she has been good friends with for ages. They knew each other back in Bensonhurst.
The character of Lois has also won points with viewers for her sparkling personality. Lois is the one and only BLQ’s (Brook Lynn Quartermaine, played by Amanda Setton) fiercely protective mama bear and Ned Quartermaine’s (Wally Kurth) ex-wife.
“I see something, I say something,” Lois said to Olivia when Ned’s current wife railed into her BFF for detonating a truth bomb on New Year’s Eve when she told Sonny about what Nina did to Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
We hope Olivia forgives Lois for opening up Pandora’s box. Lois knows what it’s like for everyone around her to know the truth while she was kept in the dark.
Lois knows what it is like to feel like a fool for trusting the person she loves. When she found out that Ned was married to Katharine Bell (Mary Beth Evans) while she was married to him, she felt like she had been played. She didn’t want Sonny to feel that way.
Lois is a class act and a one-of-a-kind character who fights for what she believes in. We will enjoy every minute she stays in Port Charles.
