To be honest, ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers weren’t surprised when it was announced that the show’s head writing team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor were fired after fans voiced their desire for the replacement writers to take over.
The show has been inconsistent at best for the last year or so, and before that they drew storylines out way too long in trying to find ways to bring Peter August (Wes Ramsey) back like he was a cat with nine lives.
The last couple of weeks, we’ve had to deal with characters going from one extreme to the other, like Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) being all for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) to live her life, and then turning around and trying to convince her to leave Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez).
Don’t even get us started on how they could’ve had Curtis be a hero in breaking open the shooting case while being in the wheelchair and instead threw a cure at him to get him out of the storyline.
But every show has their issues. It’s hard not to, and now we’re curious what’s to come.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Plenty of experience
One good thing the show has going for it is they brought in two longtime soap opera writing vets to take over in Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte.
Patrick wrote for several soaps including ‘Santa Barbara’, ‘Guiding Light’, ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’, and ‘General Hospital’, the latter as an associate head writer in 1998 to 1999.
Elizabeth has been part of the ‘General Hospital’ family since 1994 with co-head writer experience in 2001.
In 2007, she and Bob Guza worked together to create the show’s spinoff ‘General Hospital; Night Shift’.
The show’s seen a consistent writing upheaval over the last ten years, and we’re hopefully things will settle down now and the show can get back to making sense instead of being all over the place.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Hoped for changes
A couple of changes fans have shared they’d like to see online are ending the Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) relationship.
We like them, but it just feels out of place like they’re trying to make Finn seem human instead of his confident and lack of bedside manner self.
Maybe if he was made more awkward when put into different situations it would help, otherwise, it’d been falling flat for many.
Another is for the writers to put Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) into every scenario and have her coming out smelling like a rose no matter what.
It’s gotten stale for many and having her actually pay the price and earn her way back instead of having things handed back to her like Bobbie’s would be a nice change of pace.
