‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicates that Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) was waiting for the right moment to tell his son, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) that he has been diagnosed with ALS. Gregory has been having a difficult time with letting those close to him know about his diagnosis because he does not want their pity. But did Gregory wait too long?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Difficult News
It has been hard for Gregory to deal with his ALS diagnosis. ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is also called Lou Gehrig’s disease after a baseball player who suffered from the condition. ALS impacts the nervous system. Nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are impacted which causes a complete loss of muscular control.
Gregory has been having tremors in his hands. He also has lost some strength in his hands and arms. Additionally, he fell when he was watching Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) daughter, Violet Finn (Jophielle Love).
When this happens, Gregory gets scared and finds that he is losing trust and confidence in himself and his abilities. He decides that he needs to tell Finn. Finn is upset and finds it difficult news to bear, but he wants to be there for his father. He knows that Gregory really needs to tell his brother Chase too.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Not the Right Time?
Gregory struggles because he sees how happy Chase is with his girlfriend Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton). They just moved in together and Gregory is reticent to shatter that happiness. He believes that Chase will take the news poorly. Gregory doesn’t want him to be upset. He also doesn’t want to see his son pity him.
Chase got hit by some pepper spray in training and ends up at GH. His eyes are red and watering. When Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) sees him, she thinks that something happened to her granddaughter. When Chase said Brook Lyn is fine, Tracy asks if something more has happened to his father. She asks if his father fell again.
Chase doesn’t know what she is talking about. As far as he knows, his father is fine. He demands to know why she asked him that question. He tells her about the pepper spray training gone wrong and she tries to avoid answering him. But he pushes and wants to know why she would say that about his father.
As Finn comes down the stairs, Tracy spills the new to Chase. He is stunned and can’t believe that Finn kept it from him. Chase is angry and upset. He storms away and then collapses with grief in the alleyway outside.
Gregory still doesn’t know that Chase knows his diagnosis. What will it be like when they see each other? Will Chase be angry at his father or caring and sympathetic? What do you think will happen?
