‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers say that Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) was hit with quite the bombshell when she found out that she’s related to none other than Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Here’s What’s Next For Laura Spencer
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, ‘General Hospital’ co-head writers Dan O’Connor and Chris Van Etten opened up as to why they decided to reveal that Laura not only shares DNA with Cyrus, but with Martin Gray (Martin E. Knight), too. The writers say that for inspiration, they looked to Laura’s early days on the show.
O’Connor explained, “Chris and I are lifelong fans of the show and we love touching on history whenever we can. The character of Laura has such a rich and vibrant history, and she has been one of the hearts of the show for such a long time. There is this big chunk of her past that has been left untouched for many years – the years before Luke and Scott were on the show. When we realized there was an opportunity to go back and not only honor that, but use it to propel our story forward, as well, we both were very excited to explore the possibility.”
The writers also say that they are pleased to be tying up Martin into the storyline too. O’Connor added, “I think if you are giving a role Genie Francis is playing, you can’t go wrong with Michael Knight! They are two soap acting powerhouses.”
