This isn’t anything new for ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers as we’ve watched Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) try her best to control, coerce, and manipulate Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) into breaking up.

She’s failed in her attempt when Trina agreed to go to New York with him, but it doesn’t look like Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) is ready to give up.

We’re not sure if he’ll be doing so on his own or with Prompting from Portia, but it looks like he’s going to try to convince Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) to try to keep Trina away from Spencer.

This will be interesting since Curtis is the only one that hasn’t tried to tell Trina what she should do, and we expect he’ll tell Marshall he can’t tell her what to do.

We applaud Curtis if he sticks to his guns on this one. We love them, but Portia and Marshall need to take a step back and let Trina live her life.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Always fearing the worst

Trina is old enough to make her own choices and she’s one of the smartest and most level headed people in Port Charles. Sure, she’ll make mistakes, but she’ll learn and grow from them, not keep them hidden.

‘General Hospital’ totally understand why Portia and Marshall are so protective of her, but the thing is they are being so protective for the wrong reasons.

It’s not because Spencer is mean, manipulative, evil, conniving, or because he can’t parallel park, but because he might draw trouble thanks to what happened curtesy of Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).

What’s funny is if Spencer was anyone else, he probably would’ve told Trina about what her mom told him and tried to get him to do, but he didn’t. Yet he’s still the enemy.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Turning it up a notch

Just because she failed so far doesn’t mean Portia won’t continue to try to break them up, as it looks like she’ll continue using Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) to either win back Spencer to leave with her baby so Spencer will go with her.

Either way, when Trina finds out that her mom and grandfather tried to influence her life and not respect her wishes, stuff is going to hit the fan.

If Portia thought she had a problem before after lying to Trina about who her father was, this will be a lot worse given it’s so close to that lie coming out.

We don’t doubt that Trina, probably with a little encouragement from Curtis, will come back and forgive her, but it’s going to be rough.

Portia would be better served to trust her daughter’s judgement instead of trying to control her.

Will Curtis stand his ground with Marshall? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
