‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that Emme Rylan posted on Instagram that GH is recasting Lulu Spencer. The caption read, “Yes. It’s true. GH has decided to recast Lulu. Although I’m very disappointed with their choice, I am glad to have closure finally. (And thank goodness GH brought all of you fabulous people into my life! Love you guys!”)
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rylan Left GH In December 2020
Rylan left GH in December 2020 after Julian Jerome (William deVry) bombed the Floating Rib. Lulu’s boyfriend, Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson), who had just proposed to her, died in the explosion.
Lulu appeared to have recovered and was about to tell her ex-husband, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), that she still loved him. Suddenly, she collapsed and went into a coma.
The character has been in a coma ever since. Speculation was fueled when Dante and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) visited Lulu last month.
The time is ripe for Lulu to return, as Dante is in a serious relationship with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), and Lulu’s daughter, Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlet Fernandez), left town with her father, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), who was also the head of Pikeman and is now a fugitive.
Whoever takes over the role of Lulu will be part of a juicy storyline. Many fans were disappointed that Rylan would not reprise the role she inherited from the original Lulu, Julie Berman, in 2013.
Rylan is a very talented actress. However, her version of Lulu never rang true for some fans. Berman was feisty, spirited, and perfectly played the role of Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) and Laura’s daughter.
To some, she was more believable as Luke and Laura’s offspring. Rylan, who has an impressive soap resume, first played the deeply troubled Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light from 2006 to 2009.
Afterward, she took off for Genoa City to play Ashley Abbott and Victor Newman’s daughter, and “The Naked Heiress,” Abby Newman, from 2010 to 2013. Not too shabby.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: A Casting Call Went Out For A Character Named “Lauren”
TV Insider reported on August 5th that GH placed a casting call for a character named “Lauren.” She was described as a blond, white female between the ages of 34 and 40.
The character is said to be dynamic, fiery, and beautiful. She has overcome “challenging circumstances” but is now “stronger” and is “more determined than ever.”
It sounds a lot like Lulu, doesn’t it? Soaps sometimes use fake character names to keep fans guessing when they announce casting calls.
Hopefully, the show will ask Julie Berman to take the wheel, which would be more advantageous than trying to force a recast to work.
While several of the soap’s recasts have been successful, such as with Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos), it’s incredibly difficult to understand why GH would recast a popular actress when Rylan was willing and available.
Rylan posted this message for fans a while back about returning to GH:
“No matter what the internet says, I have made it very clear to GH that I’m available to play Lulu should she ever wake up. It is my understanding that when they choose to wake her up, they would be calling me.”
