‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that the GH writers have done a sloppy job with writing Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) lately, particularly with the recent scenes between her and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Writing Isn’t Consistent
Sam and her once soulmate, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), have not seen eye to eye since he returned from the dead this March.
The bold PI is suddenly scared about her son, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), spending time with Jason for fear that he will turn out like his father.
When Jason explained to Sam that he was working with the FBI, and that’s why he was presumed dead, her feelings toward Jason softened.
In a surprising turn of events, Sam coerced Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) to investigate what the FBI had over Jason. Sam said she wanted to help Jason and potentially free him from the FBI’s control. Sam isn’t going to like it when she discovers why he’s been gone.
It seems like a plot device to have Sam blow up at Carly. When Sam finds out that Jason stayed away to protect Carly, she will become furious. Spoilers indicate the bigger confrontation is coming up later this week.
Here’s where the writing makes no sense: Why would Sam risk her freedom to help Jason and make sure that Danny has his Dad around for him? Then she suddenly she goes to Carly, of all people, to ask her to tell Jason to stay away from Danny.
Sam and Jason have already talked about Danny and come to an understanding. The story isn’t consistent. It’s like they don’t remember what they wrote from one day to the next.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Good Use Of History Or Poorly Constructed Plot Device?
It seems like the writers constructed this poorly written conversation and, to some extent, Sam’s newfound fears about Danny so they could reignite the ancient feud that Carly and Sam had buried and forgotten about.
It may make sense to some that GH is revisiting the history between the two women. If Sam and Carly are so grown up and different, why are they acting like it’s 2007?
We were half expecting Carly to slap Sam, especially when Sam brought up Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) out of nowhere.
While what Sam said about not being the same person anymore is spot on, what Carly said about Sam wanting to have Jason’s baby was true.
Then Sam made an ominous remark that if anything happened to Danny, she’d be just as responsible as Jason. What? Where is Sam anyway? Because this isn’t the Sam we know and love.
The other issue is that when you tell a teenager not to do something, they will want to do it that much more. Sam should know that. Danny worships his father and isn’t going to listen to her.
The writers seem intent on destroying Sam’s character, not to mention Carly and Sam’s maturity and growth in their relationship.
Sadly, most soaps resort to petty catfights and animosity between women. GH did a fine job breaking that old stereotype, but now they are making excuses to create problems between these two female characters.
