‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers share that the daytime community is mourning the loss of a legend. Soap stars from General Hospital and The Young and the Restless have come together to pay tribute to Tristan Rogers.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rogers Died On Friday, August 15th, After His Battle With Lung Cancer
Rogers died on Friday, August 15th, at age 79, while battling lung cancer. He is best known for his roles as Robert Scorpio on GH and Colin Atkinson on Y&R.
Since the news of his death spread, his daytime colleagues have left some touching messages on social media and other outlets. Here is a taste of some of the kind words they have to offer:
Emma Samms, who plays Holly Sutton on GH, shared,
“I’m incredibly sad to hear the news about Tristan. I loved working with him, and we were both so grateful we got the chance to do that for more than 40 years.”
Samms, who dated Rogers for a time in the 80s, explained that he made her feel comfortable when they were in front of the cameras.
Robert and Holly were a super couple, and the last time they were together onscreen in November 2024, they left Port Charles to set out on an adventure.

Another GH super couple that Rogers helped make famous was Robert and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). Rogers’ other leading lady describes her first encounter with Tristan,
“Tris sauntered into my life on that first day to rehearse.”
Hughes continued,
“Cropped hair and steel-blue eyes, I thought, ‘Damn, I’m going to be working with Steve McQueen!”
Hughes made it a point to say that she felt like it was only yesterday they met.
“From day one, he called me ‘ kid, or Finny, and he made me laugh,”
She said.
“An effortless actor, living on screen, he taught me so much. Serious about his work, but always a rebel.”
She concluded her message,
“I wish I could play one more scene with you, my friend,”
Hughes remarked. After she expressed her condolences to Roger’s family, she proposed,
“Mai Tais on the beach, Scorpio.”
Daniel Goddard, who once played Rogers’ onscreen son on Y&R, and was the original Cane Ashby on the soap, had some sweet words to say about Tristan.
“Mate, I just heard the news,”
Goddard wrote on Instagram.
“I want you to know how much you meant to not just me, but everyone who had the fortune of being in your presence.”
He said.
“You were a trailblazer, doing what no other Australian had done. After all these years, you’re still everybody’s mate.”
Goddard continued,
“You were kind, with one of the driest senses of humor I’ve ever known, and I caught every joke, no matter how subtle.”
He added,
“From the first scene to the last, I never stopped learning from you. The world is now a little emptier without you in it. Rest in peace, my friend.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Actor Played Memorable Roles On GH And Y&R
Sofia Mattsson, who played his onscreen daughter, Sasha Corbin, on GH, shared,
“Rest in peace, Tristan Rogers. I feel so incredibly fortunate to have gotten such an amazing TV dad, and I will always cherish the very heartwarming moments we got to share.”
Genie Francis, who plays Laura Collins on GH, expressed her thoughts,
“My heart is heavy. Goodbye, my spectacular friend. My deepest condolences to his wife, Teresa, and their children. Tristan Rogers was very bright, both as an actor and a person. I was so lucky to have known him.”
GH executive producer, Frank Valentini, wrote,
“The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers’ passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for more than 50 years, and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.”
Y&R shared its moving thoughts on Tristan Rogers’ passing. His onscreen Y&R character, Colin Atkinson, was mentioned this summer, as Colin passed away.
They said, “Our deepest condolences to the family and fans of Tristan Rogers, who graced Y&R for many years as the lovable Colin Atkinson. Tristan was a beloved member of the Y&R family who will be greatly missed.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Former Executive Producer Of GH, Gloria Monty, Picked A Superstar
Tristan Rogers was a very talented actor and was only supposed to be a minor character on GH. Gloria Monty, executive producer at the time, was so impressed by him that she asked if he would like to stay on.
She decided he would be a superspy for the WSB. It turned out to be the role that would define his career. Tristan remained an integral part of GH until he passed away.
John J. York, who played his onscreen brother, Mac Scorpio, on GH. Summed up Tristan’s historic impact on the soap and everyone who loved him perfectly,
“Frozen. Timeless. Legend. Privileged. Husband. Father. Grandfather. We will all see you again.”
Tristan Rogers leaves behind a daytime legacy and is survived by his wife, Teresa, his beloved children, Sara Jane and Cale, and a grandchild.
