‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers loved the Tuesday, January 2 episode. It had so much going on and some great tension, and by the end we were hit with two big bombs back to back.

Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) came clean to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) called he SEC on Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), and Carly got a phone call informing her of Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman)’s passing.

It was a one-two combination that left everyone speechless and set up a great cliffhanger, but we think they may have robbed each other of the impact the reveals could’ve had.

We’ve waiting a year for Nina’s secret to come out and knew it was coming, but it was still going to be huge. We’ve unfortunately known for months that Bobbie would die following the actress’ untimely death following a battle with cancer.

    And herein lies the problem

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Bad timing

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers joined fans in our belief the show was waiting too long to pay tribute to Bobbie and Jacklyn, but there were logical sounding reasons being shared.

One of those were the length of time it’d take to set something up, and that they wanted to wait until after the writer’s strike so the official writers could do the storyline.

We can understand the desire for the latter, but since the replacement writers were considered by many to be doing a better job that doesn’t fly. It comes across more like the show didn’t want the replacements to have a chance to shine.

As a result, we had a couple of bait and switch teases the last couple of weeks before Carly finally got the call.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Not the double whammy the hope for

We feel it’s safe to say the writers wanted a huge double whammy for the announcement, but for us it feels underwhelming.

Both announcements happening in the same episode stole each other’s thunder as many of us were dealing with the first bit of news about Bobbie dying.

But given the timing and how the show held off, did they have a choice at this point? Fans were already upset at the delay, so they couldn’t wait any longer, and now the big payoff from the Nina and Sonny storyline lacked the punch they were hoping for.

Bobbie deserved an episode where Carly got the news and then spent the episode dealing with it instead of it being used as a co-cliffhanger.

What do you think? Could the show have handled this better? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
