In a curious new dynamic, ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers are sure the show is going through a soft reboot, meaning they’re not starting fresh, but going back to basics and what makes the show great.
In the eyes of many fans and critics alike, the main driving force behind the show still being around is Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Sonny’s been at the center of a few storylines lately that have divided the show’s fanbase into pro Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and anyone else.
To get that kind of a reaction is a testament to the writers and actors for making us care so much about the people of Port Charles, so it’s not a surprise that Sonny is dominating the storyline in an unexpected way.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Putting Sonny in danger
While Sonny has been in danger countless times over the years, this time is different as even his friends seem to be getting in line to take him down.
This is why ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers think this is a soft reboot. It feels like the writers are taking the show back to Sonny’s early days when he had to establish himself.
Along the way, they’ve stripped him of his family, associates, and friends to make him more vulnerable than he’s ever been.
With Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) throwing Sonny and his entire family under the bus to prove himself worthy and win Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) back being bad enough, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) seems ready to jump ship too.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Cates is convincing
Since he arrived in Port Charles, John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington) has made a name for himself as Carly has nothing but contempt for him and he’s been proving to be a far more complicated character than we were expecting.
He’s been holding Anna’s feet to the fire to make sure she walks the line between upholding the law and letting Sonny do what he wants.
She’s been waffling a little until Dex came to her and unloaded everything about Sonny and his family.
Anna took it as an eye opening message and sought Jagger out to talk with him, and this is where we start questioning the writers.
This is a cool idea and everything, but is it really a shock to Anna or Sonny’s family, of all people, what he’s capable of?
They shouldn’t be so shocked unless they’ve suffered head trauma and forgot the last thirty years.
These epiphanies are sloppy and lazy writing as the writers try to turn everyone against Sonny instead of having everyone act like they’re learning what a mobster does for the first time.
There’s only so much suspension of disbelief, and the show’s past using that.
But there is the chance that Anna is feeling Jagger out to see how legitimate he is and how he’d react to what Dex told her.
She could be protecting Sonny, but we’re starting to doubt that.
