‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers: spin-off Port Charles and Beverly Hills 90210 actor David Gail, deceased at 58. Gail is best known for playing Brenda Walsh’s (Shannen Doughtery) wealthy fiancée, Stuart Carson, on 90210. He is known for playing on General Hospital’s spin-off soap as Dr. Joe Scanlon for over 200 episodes from 1999 to 2000.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Gail Was Widely Known As a Soap Actor
On Port Charles, the character of Joe Scanlon was childhood friends with Karen Wexler (Carrie Shayne). Eventually, the two of them became engaged. Someone framed Joe for being a sex addict when he wasn’t, and the two of them broke up.
Some of you may remember Gail’s brief stint on the teen sudser, 90210. Stuart Carson was the wealthy heir to his father’s business empire. Jim Walsh (James Eckhouse) set Brenda up with him. After rebounding from Dylan McKay (Luke Perry), Brenda agreed to marry Stuart, even though she had only known him for two weeks.
It was only after Dylan revealed Stuart’s shady past as a drug dealer and seedy club owner that Brenda saw the light. She and Stuart broke up, as their relationship was very short-lived. The soap revealed later that Stuart’s fractured bond with his father made him live a dishonest life.
Years before on Port Charles, he was a recast for Michael Dietz as Alan-Michael Spaulding on Guiding Light.
Gail’s sister, Katie Colmenares, posted this message about her brother, David, on Instagram,
“There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side. Always my wingman, always my best friend, ready to face anything and anyone with me. The bears will never be the same, but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart, you gorgeous, loving, amazing, fierce human being.” She concluded with, “Missing you every second of every day forever. There will never be another.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Fans Expressed Their Condolences
Friends and fans took to Instagram to give Katie their condolences. One person said,
“Sorry for your loss. At the end, we are all here today and tomorrow just a memory in the winds.”
Another person commented,
“David was a kind human. Someone I wish I spoke to more. He was filled with life and incredible stories. I am grateful I got to know him. I am so saddened for your loss and the world’s loss. He was a gift to us all.”
Someone else said,
“We loved David so much. He was one of the good guys in life. Sending love to you and your family. I am heartbroken. He was the most loyal, supportive friend. I miss him already.”
One of Katie’s followers said,
“Beautiful words about David. Sorry for your loss. You had a great brother. He was always full of fun, laughs, and love. Will cherish my friendship with him. Sending love to your family.”
Another person remarked,
“Hi, Katie. I’ve known David for years and was blessed enough to get to know him better since he returned from France. RIP David. Your absence leaves a great hole in many lives.”
The coroner has not announced the cause of death yet.
