General Hospital star Genie Francis is opening up about a struggle that a lot of her fans can definitely relate to. The actress, who plays Laura Spencer on the hit show, says that it hasn’t been easy fitting into her character’s pants. And she means that in multiple ways. Here’s what you need to know.
General Hospital News: Genie Francis Opens Up About A Personal Struggle
Speaking to Closer Weekly, the stunning actress recently revealed that she lost 40 pounds with the help of her Nutrisystem diet. The 56-year-old mother of two has tried every diet in the book, but unfortunately nothing would stick. “Dealing with my weight, my body and food has been the most painful part of my life,” confessed the star. “The only thing I knew about food was that I was starving myself or I was overeating. Nothing in between.”

Luckily, Nutrisystem came to the rescue. Along with a daily exercise routine, Genie has been able to keep the weight off while looking and feeling great. Speaking about her rollercoaster experience with extreme dieting, she added, “I was miserable. I had ruined my metabolism. I had no idea of what a normal day of eating should look like. They taught me how to feed myself instead of starve myself.”
These days Genie says that she knows she needs to stay healthy in order to keep up with the demands of her day job. After all, her character Laura Spencer has been dealing with a lot of dramatic twists and turns these last few weeks. It’s without a doubt that she has to stay in her toes! With that said, Genie still looks fantastic to us. Ever since she returned to Port Charles, the action has been non stop. General Hospital fans are loving every second of it.
