This is something that’s bothered ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers since, well, the beginning of this storyline.
We’ve never liked how quickly and easily Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) bypassed Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante) for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright)’s gain the first time.
Between going to prison for Carly instead of letting her face time for her crime without a second thought to his daughter, and then he offered Scout’s financial future to bail Carly out.
So it’s not a surprise as everyone’s favorite nice guy bypassed his daughter a third time to see Carly after he was released.
Seriously, he has some serious issues he needs to take care of, and so will Scout before it’s all said and done.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Something’s got to give
It’s great that Drew was released, or thinks he was. For us and the timing it feels like it’s a set up of some sort to have him brought up on escape charges or something like that, which would cause more issues.
Most likely, ‘General Hospital’ think this is a lazy writing excuse to move the storyline along since other angles seemed to have been tweaked lately.
Either way, something’s got to happen one way or the other, and since Drew got out of serving his sentence, are they going to have Scout and everyone else welcome him back and move on?
It’s a nice thought, but if they do we think they’ll be missing out on a great opportunity to cash in on some drama they created by having Drew act so “noble” and that’s dealing with Scout’s reaction to being the second choice in her father’s life.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Abandonment issues
After losing Drew to confinement a bit back, there is no reason Scout won’t grow up with abandonment issues of some kind. She has to.
Especially when he tries to justify his weak decision to sacrifice her for Carly.
It’s a great example of him having to pay for his decisions and they should do it in front of the camera instead of off screen by having Drew act like he doesn’t understand what he did wrong.
They can still have him go through that, but add in Scout’s reactions and tantrums at not understanding why he keeps abandoning her and it’s drama gold.
It’ll take a little more depth and thought process than having her agree while smiling and being happy like when she found out he was going to prison, but there is potential.
Should the show capitalize on Drew’s bad decision making? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
