Relatives of former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas have told the Associated Press that they believe he died from a seizure. Thomas “had been suffering from seizures for over a year,” LaTonya Bonseigneur (Thomas’ cousin) said Friday.
Bonseigneur grew up with Thomas in Georgia and considered him a sibling and says that their family believes he suffered a seizure while in the shower.
“He was alone and a friend couldn’t get hold of him, so he called his driver, who has a key because of these seizures, and he went into his home and found him in the shower,” Bonseigneur said. “We’re not sure when he died. We just spoke with him (Wednesday).”

Thomas announced his retirement after playing 11 games with the New York Jets in 2019 after he spent 8 seasons with the Denver Broncos, who drafted him back in the 2010 draft.
In his career with the Broncos, he had 724 catches for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns including a Super Bowl championship with quarterback Peyton Manning.
Thomas would have turned 34-years-old on Christmas Day.
His passing came as a shock to fans and players alike and many would share their condolences online. It’s too bad what happened, as he has his entire life ahead of him.
Rest in peace Thomas.
