‘Welcome to Plathville’ spoilers indicate that she says her sisters came up with the nickname for her after someone told Lydia, her younger sister, that she had such a light heart, and Lydia, queen of shade that she is, pointed out Moriah and said, “Well, she has a black heart.” which at first kind of rubbed Moriah the wrong way (can’t say I blame her there) but later on she ended up embracing the title because she said that black is her absolute favorite color and that she wears it all the time.
Also, it seems to be a way of not letting what her family thinks of her get to her, and that’s definitely a good thing.
‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: Introducing Moriah Plath
Moriah says that growing up with a bunch of siblings that it was hard to get anything done for yourself in the household. She also said that primping in the bathroom mirror was practically non-existant in their household because there were 6 girls and they would all fight over the bathroom mirror in the morning.
She also hints at being a bit of a tomboy when she was little because she would always end up involved in whatever her brothers were doing, and that including getting into fights and throwing rotten potatoes at each other. What a childhood!
She says that she has a lot of goals, and that starting her own clothing line is one of them. She says when she was a lot younger she used to dress ‘amish style’ but now she said that her style can be described as ‘someone ran out of fabric’, and we see it illustrated clearly in the bright, lime green, one-shoulder crop-top that she’s wearing in this piece.
As for her musical aspirations she says that music has always been a bit of an escape for her, her first song that she wrote was when she was five and it was about a drunken Mom leaving her baby in the top of a tree. She says she doesn’t even know how she knew what the word drunk meant, but there it is. (This raises all sorts of questions, but perhaps they’ll be answered in the new season.)
She says that for her, writing music was a way for her to find value in her own feelings. Even though a lot of the time her family didn’t really seem to be in touch with the things that mattered to her, that writing music allowed her to process things.
She said she tried to be like her sisters, to be trained up like the perfect wife and mother, but that she’s always been really different. This shows up in her song lyrics, she says sometimes they’re happy but the majority of them are about struggles in life. Hm, wonder why?
She says that she wants to continued to write and record music and live her dream. About the way that she was brought up, she says that the piece of heaven that her parents created wasn’t heaven for her at all and that she craves independance most of all.
She said that she would often stare out her window at the treeline and wonder about what more was out there other than the life that she knew. Moriah doesn’t want to stay in one place for too long, she says that maybe one day she’ll have her own place where she can call home but right now she’s not looking to settle down in one spot.
She said she is working hard right now to get to where she wants to go in life, and it looks like she’s working at a garage doing mechanical stuff, as well as being a fitness instructor. No wonder she posts so many fitness pictures, it just means she’s always at work!
She seems pretty dedicated to this particular line of work, so, go Moriah! When asked about the whole situation regarding sister-in-law Olivia, she says that she felt bad for Olivia, getting blame for things that Moriah would have done whether Olivia had been there or not. She said that “I would have gotten here eventually.” so Kim needs to calm down about Olivia being a bad influence.
Moriah says that it feels like she will never stop learning about life and that it’s discouraging when her family keeps telling her that she will never make it out in the world, but that it ultimately gives her the drive to prove that she can and will make it out in the world with or without their approval, and that learning is part of the challenge for her.
It’s good to see Moriah totally embracing life and really going after her dreams. What will season 2 bring? We can’t wait. Stay tuned!!!
