Elon Musk Says SpaceX Will Land Rockets On Mars “Before 2030”!

Elon Musk has his sights set on Mars, and it looks like we could be seeing rockets on Mars within the decade! In a Twitter exchange, Musk stated that “SpaceX will be landing Starships on Mars well before 2030. The really hard threshold is making Mars Base Alpha self-sustaining.”

Musk has had his eyes set on Mars for a while now, and with the technology quickly evolving and growing, he wants to establish a Mars colony in his lifetime.

Politician Bernie Sanders weighed in on the news, Tweeting, “Space travel is an exciting idea, but right now we need to focus on Earth and create a progressive tax system so that children don’t go hungry, people are not homeless and all Americans have healthcare. The level of inequality in America is obscene and a threat to our democracy.”

Musk’s response to Sanders was essentially that he’s looking to continue on the existence of mankind. In a rebuttal to Sander’s Tweet, Musk wrote, “I am accumulating resources to help make life multiplanetary & extend the light of consciousness to the stars“.

So, while he will be landing starships on Mars well before 2030, the big thing for Musk is “making Mars Base Alpha self-sustaining.” If they cannot produce their own food or have reliable importing, they will be dead soon.

In his most recent podcast episode on the Joe Rogan Experience, Musk went into a great deal about what it would take to make this a reality, and the true danger that the space colonizers would deal with.

This is all very exciting, and Musk is right. At least one company can be looking to the stars to make humans multi-planetary, while the rest of us deal with Earth.

What do you think? Are you excited at all about the idea of making humans multi-planetary? Let us know in the comments below.
