‘El Final del Paraíso’ spoilers finds that with the return of the popular Telemundo franchise comes the return of one of its favorite villains, as well: Yésica “La Diabla” Beltrán (Kimberly Reyes). The character has gone through a lot of changes (and faces) since Telemundo started bringing Gustavo Bolívar’s world to life. Here’s what you need to know.

El Final del Paraíso spoilers: Becoming a she-devil

Yésica was the trouble-maker who became a madam. She took Catalina Santana (Carmen Villalobos) under her wing when Catalina decided she wanted better than her mother, Dona Hilda Santana (Catherine Siachoque) could provide.

Through the course of 2008’s Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso, she and Catalina become partners in crime as Yésica did everything in her power to help Catalina get the implants she wanted so badly so the narcos would pay attention to her and give her money and more.

Unfortunately, this duo went bust after Catalina’s spoiled (and stupid) nature led to almost getting them killed, as well as other problems. Ultimately, Catalina’s complaints about Marcial Barrera (César Mora) combined with her lack of repaying Yésica for all she’d gone through, led to Yésica backstabbing Catalina. She showed Marcial proof of Catalina’s bad attitude toward him, and her betrayals. Because of that, Catalina lost her golden ticket and got angry enough to order someone to kill her.

Feeling guilty (and depressed over other events), Catalina eventually cancels the planned meeting between them and arrives dressed as Diabla so the hitman will kill her instead. Meanwhile, La Diabla was living it up with Cata’s ex, completely unaware of what had been planned.

El Final del Paraíso spoilers: Changing history

There are several changes that La Diabla went through when the continuation, Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso, debuted in 2016. She was named Yésica Franco in the ’08 version, for one. Two, Sí Hay presents a pretty decent mother/daughter relationship, with no hint of the resentment Yésica felt for Imelda Beltrán (Luces Velásquez) making her support the house, basically. Plus, their conflict over the boyfriend who came on to Yésica.

Another change is a longer history between Yésica and Catalina, which included bitterness over Catalina presenting a science talk better than her. Finally, we have the suicide by assassin attempt. In Sí Hay, Yesica actually shows up at the appointed place in time to see a dead body dressed like her. Any wonder why Yésica is so resentful?

El Final del Paraíso spoilers: Changing faces

Besides that, we’ve also had several actresses take on the character. In No Hay, Maria Fernanda Yepes brought the character to life, and is still a favorite of a lot of the fanbase. These days, she’s more focused on other projects like Maria Magdelena and has expressed a desire to stay away from Narco novelas.

Taking on the part in Sí Hay was actress/singer Majida Issa. The actress took the part to a new level, and won a huge part of the fanbase over with her more complex Yésica, who also hilariously savage.

Unfortunately, the actress decided to leave, but she went out with a bang as the car Yésica was riding in is blown up. This led to a temporary replacement by the actress’ real-life sister, Jordana Issa (who also played Diabla’s Venezuelan sister). Majida had a bad reaction to the makeup that was used to show Yésica’s gruesome injuries that would require plastic surgery. This set the stage for the current actress, Kimberly Reyes.

Her version of La Diabla started as another character who is kidnapped by one of Diabla’s henchmen. The purpose? Steal her face for a transplant that will allow Diabla to recover a life, now that she’d been captured more than once by the TEA. This version of Diabla is now running a new cartel and working as Catalina’s bodyguard at the TEA on the side, unbeknownst to her former friend.

Whatever the face, and whatever details come in, you can count on this character to bring complex stories, hilarious snark, and crazy twists.
