‘Doubling Down with the Derricos’ Spoilers tells that The Derricos were in the middle of building their stage for their COVID safe Halloween dance party which seemed to be going just fine, but then, they had to go for a supply run. However something about being outside with all the kids in a public space seemed to send Karen spiraling – physically.
They had recently gotten a diagnosis with Dawson, about her skull. Apparently Dawson has a condition that’s going to require her to wear a helmet for awhile. However when the x-rays came back they said, ‘That reminds me of Diaz’s head”, one of their other children.
‘Doubling Down with the Derricos’: Is Karen okay?
To which the doctor replied that they recommended bringing Diaz in for a scan to see if he possibly had the same diagnosis. You can clearly see that Diaz’s head is smaller than the rest of the kids, he has a very narrow face shape.
Personally, I thought it might have been due to being a preemie baby and just being small-framed, but Karen and Deon, upon getting Dawson’s diagnosis decided that perhaps Diaz needed to be evaluated too. I’m kind of amazed that no doctor beforehand caught this, but medical professionals make mistakes too, so there’s that.
Poor Karen got a bit physically overwhelmed, it seemed that all of the stress manifested itself into a physical panic attack, so much so that Deon had to start getting her ice chips or else she would pass out. She also suggested that it could also be a prolonged side-effect of COVID-19, which could be true as well. A lot of people are now having what they call “long-hauler’s syndrome” in which they still have symptoms of COVID and side-effects long after the disease itself has cleared from their system.
One of the symptoms is fatigue, loss of smell and/or taste, and “brain fog”. Karen was complaining of what seemed to be sudden fatigue. Some people have also had their hearts weakened forever by the disease and previously healthy, normal adults now have to be on heart medication, possibly for the rest of their lives.
Fortunately, Karen has not mentioned anything like that, but she could definitely be experiencing some kind of long-hauler’s symptoms. We don’t know how long it was from the end of season 1 till they started filming season 2. Stay tuned!!!
