Melanie Ham, most famous for her knitting, quilting, and crotcheting youtube channel has unfortunately passed away. Her husband, Robert, shared the news on her Instagram that she passed away on Jan. 12th.
In her own words in one of her videos, she said that the tumor that had originated on her kidney had metastasized and come back in multiple locations, including in her stomach, she passed away nine days before what would have been her 16th anniversary with her husband. He says that “Melanie fought like a warrior queen”.

She didn’t just do quilting and crotcheting but she also did a lot of other DIY videos as well, including such things as macrame. She highlighted a charity in Honduras that employed women, namely single Moms, who made a living sewing, just like she did.
She started sharing her health journey in 2020 when she revealed that she had a tumor that was cancerous. Melanie is survived by her husband Robert, and their two children. Her life will be honored in an upcoming event where colorful clothing will be encouraged… which is a perfectly fitting way to be remembered for someone like Melanie.
Melanie was only 36, which just goes to show that death truly knows no number and it does not discriminate. It will take you no matter if you are some forgotten person alone on the street or an influencer with a loving family and millions of followers. In death, we are all equal.
The online community will no doubt miss Melanie Ham and the little bright spot that her youtube channel held for so many, that safe little corner of influencer-dom where, now, she is somewhat immortalized, you can still turn to her scarf-making tutorials or quilting tips if you need them, which is kind of amazing, in a way technology does let us live forever… at least little parts of us.
It’s definitely not the same as being able to interact, we still have a part of her to cherish, while it’s important for her followers, one’s heart immediately turns to her children… we’re glad that they still have that part of their mother to hold onto during this time. Our hearts go out to her family during this time, they have our deepest condolences.
