Melanie Lynskey, who is best known for being on the hit TV show Yellowjackets, has hit back at her critics commenting on her body.

Melanie Lynskey Hits Back At Body-Shamers-‘Skinny Does Not Always Equal Healthy’

The actress has made no secret over what she believes to be a case of body-shaming that she has been through.  This was made even more troubling by virtue of the fact that she realised a member of the production team from the show had commented about her body.

And given that she is on such a highly-publicised show, she found it very hard to cope with. In a statement at the time, she remarked: “They were asking me, ‘What do you plan to do?

“I’m sure the producers will get you a trainer. They’d love to help you with this.” Now that Melanie has had some time to digest this, she has decided to embrace her body rather than succumbing to the pressure that has been directed towards her.

And at a time where social media has resulted in people suffering from mental health troubles, as a result of the comments, Melanie felt that the best way to respond was to show positivity on the platform.

In a post to her fans on Twitter, she said: “The story of my life since Yellowjackets premiered. Most egregious are the I care about her health!!

“People…bitch you don’t see me on my Peleton! You don’t see me running through the park with my child. Skinny does not always equal healthy.”

Fans resonated with what she had to say, but some took things a step further. They felt that there was a discrepancy being showed between the treatment directed towards men and women.

As such, men who were in a similar position may not have been subjected to the same treatment. One person wrote: “No one would be harassing her at this level if she was a man.”

It is ultimately how Melanie views herself, which is the most important thing. But given that she is in the acting profession, it would not be surprising to hear if similar occurrences occurred once again given the nature of the industry.
