Since Quarantine, David Dobrik’s youtube channel has been oddly quiet. You would think with everyone shuttered inside that the one person that would be posting regular content on youtube would be David Dobrik because that’s what he’s famous for. But ever since Quarantine, he has gone AWOL. He hasn’t stepped away from social media entirely, he’s still on twitter, and surprisingly, TikTok where he still posts a shortened version of the funny content that we’re used to seeing. However as for Youtube, there’s been a chorus of crickets. Did he get cancelled? Is he still in good health? Did he get arrested for looting? All three valid questions, but no. As it turns out this little break from youtube is something that he decided on as soon as quarantine lockdown was put in place.
Dobrik felt that his content would suffer if he just posted things from his house. He knows that his content depends on a certain amount of being able to interact with other people and with the new trend of ‘social distancing’ that is extremely difficult. Especially after COVID-19 hit and he uploaded a video that included him hanging out with his friends. He got some serious backlash from it. He went onto say that the friends he was vlogging with were basically his next door neighbors, but that no one knew that. The type of content that David provides, depends a lot on his Vlog Squad and he could not continue to provide the same sort of content in Quarantine that he could if he just took a break and waited to start uploading again when ‘the coast was clear’ as it were.
Youtube: Where did David Dobrik go?
He compared his content to that of Jimmy Fallon, stating that even though the Tonight Show host has moved his broadcast into his home so that the people will still have content, some people will not like this version of the Tonight Show. However when the Quarantine is lifted and everyone is back at work, he can go back into the studio and again be the host that everyone knows and loves. Dobrik feels similarly about his own work, he feels that any content he provides without his vlog squad would be considered ‘watered down content’ and he wants to wait until it’s safe to resurface again so he can have that big moment where everyone says he’s “back to doing the regular stuff again”.
However, his fans are champing at the bit for new content. Even Logan Paul made a video saying that he wanted him back in his life in a parody of Avatar. Guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes glued to Twitter and TikTok for the time being. Stay tuned!!! For any other soap opera and entertainment news, please visit again Daily Soap Dish.
