So if you follow any youtube news, you’ll remember that last year, beauty influence and vlogger Olivia Jade, daughter of the famed Lori Laughlin of Full House and Fuller House, she had quite the scandal in her life when it was found out that her Mom and Dad had basically scammed her way into USC. They had photoshopped pictures and cooked up this whole scheme over email with this coach from USC who apparently doctored profiles and put down kids as members on sports teams simply to get them in the college. Olivia Jade and her sister Bella even went so far as to photoshop her rowing on a rowing machine and then editing the pictures to look like she was actually on a rowing team.
And the thing is, the kids, nor the parents felt not one pang of guilt over this while it was going on. They concocted and executed this entire plan unapologetically. It was clear from all her interviews leading up to this moment that Lori wanted her daughters to go to college, but the thing is with as rich as they were and with her daughters youtube career taking off, she could have waited for any old time to do this. Look at famous youtuber Blair Fowler, AKA JuicyStar07, she waited 10 years to go to college after she had had her fun on youtube and gotten everything out of it that she wanted. She’s back now, but just because she post-poned it didn’t mean that she was never going to go. (Even though that’s what all the gossip forums said back in the day, that she was never going to go to college at the rate she was going, proved them wrong, huh Blair?)
I guess Lori, or more likely judging from the email evidence, Lori’s husband Mossimo Giannulli, got caught up in the status of having a daughter in college, because as a parent that allows you certain clout. Especially if your kid is going to a Big Name School and supposedly Mossimo did not want his kids attending just any school. I guess they also wanted their girls to be able to do the sorority thing while she was still young enough to appreciate it. (Once you get past 20, the whole hazing thing to fit in is kind of… old.) That does not excuse her behavior, not only did she lock out hundreds of more students who were better qualified for the spots that her daughter took, but it really wasn’t fair to the kids as well. Not only that but she spent $500,000 of her own money to do this when arguably just paying the regular tuition and not paying to get listed onto one of their sports teams would have costed half that much for the entire four years. Yike!,
But now after a year of fighting this case in court, and after Felicity Huffman spent a total of 11 days in jail for doing the same exact thing, Olivia Jade’s parents are changing their plea from not guilty to guilty. Lori is expected to get 2 months in jail for her role in the scam while hubby Mossimo is going to get 5 months in jail. That’s not all though, Lori has a fine of $150,000 and 100 hours of community service coming up. Mossimo however has a $250,000 fine staring him in the face and 250 hours of community service. They are scheduled to plead guilty in court at 11:30AM today, May 22nd, 2020.
Last year when all of this happened, Olivia Jade lamented that her parents had ruined her life but the thing is… even though the girls were minors and they arguably knew this was wrong, they participated as well. Olivia Jade never wanted to go to school and she even said as much on her youtube channel, that she hated college and only liked going for the parties. You can go to college parties and not take anyone’s spots away from them, it’s not hard to get the social media of people that go to that school and just get the hook up to the particular party scene that you’re into, and arguably everybody would have wanted Olivia Jade there because she’s phenomenally popular (or at least she was) on youtube.
These two parents’ downfall was not seeing that their daughter had done pretty well for herself on her own without the help of school. Not many kids can say that they had their own makeup line with sephora, or that they had their own clothing line with an exclusive boutique before the age of 18. Mossimo and Lori wanted to add college to that resume and while that in itself isn’t wrong, hindsight is 20/20 and they should have waited until it dawned on Olivia Jade that she needed college for her future, not a fake, padded resume, and certainly not Daddy’s money paying her way in. Olivia Jade has said in one of her most recent youtube videos that things need to be addressed and that right now, legally, she can’t talk about it. But as soon as she does, DSD will be here.
