The jury has deliberated and the decision is in. Amber Heard has been found guilty of three counts and has been ordered to pay Johnny Depp a whopping $15 million in defamation costs. The jury gave their answers on June 1st, and to be honest, it’s a bit surprising Depp won so big.
While Depp was found guilty for one count, he only has to pay her $2 million, and with punitive damages capped at $350,000, Depp will only receive $350,000 of the $5 million charge. All in all, it looks like Depp will be receiving $10,350,000 in the case.

It can be extremely difficult to prove defamation, and while there was actually one good point brought up by Heard’s lawyers about the jury even believing one of the events occurred, then she would be within her rights to publish the article. Does this mean that the jury didn’t believe a single thing that Amber said?
While I’m not on Heard’s side, it’s just surprising that Johnny won all three counts. Heard definitely did a lot of lying and spoke in circles while making things up while she was on the stand, and the internet must have helped in a big way with news stories and memes highlighting Amber’s lies and promoting Johnny as the likable victim.
Johnny has been sober for a while, but he may have to pop a bottle of wine tonight for celebration. Congratulations to Depp and his legal team, they really knocked it out of the park.
