In the wake of Tyler Christopher’s death, ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers have been going through his old interviews and looking to help come to grips with what his loss means.

While he’s more well known for playing Nikolas Cassadine on “General Hospital”, his last daytime soap opera job was with “Days of Our Lives” until he was fired in 2019 as Stefan DiMera.

This is where we became fans of him as we just missed his run on “General Hospital” and he brought a nice flair to Stefan when he arrived there in 2017.

Stefan was one of the best parts around as he was the son of Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) and Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) and there was so much potential to combine the darkest of both characters into a new top bad guy.

Unfortunately, Christopher didn’t last too long in the role before the demons he spent year fighting returned and he was fired in 2019.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Taking responsibility

Christopher appeared on Maurice Benard’s State of Mind podcast in 2022 and he gave one of the hardest and heart breaking interviews as he dove into his struggles with alcohol and dealing with his bipolar depression.

When the topic of his firing came up, he owned it.

“It crushed me, because I took for granted the one thing I love the most. It was devastating for a myriad of reasons. One, the thing that I love the most was taken away. Two, I threw it away. Nobody took it away from me. I dropped it, okay?

“Having to walk out the doors under those circumstances? That was like, ‘This is for real, dude. And I haven’t been back since. That ship has sailed.”

This was one of many moments during his interview where we hoped he would be able to prevail over his demons and return to soaps at some point or at least have a thriving career.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Feeling robbed

Fans were adamant that they wanted Christopher to return as Nikolas on ‘General Hospital’ and that hope never wavered. Everyone wanted to see him succeed and be happy and return to doing what he loved, but it wasn’t meant to be.

While it feels like everyone lost out, in the end he gave us so many memorable moments and the outpouring of love on social media shows what he meant to all of us.
