Now that the show has officially labeled Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) dead, ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers wonder if they have something else planned?
We’re glad to see they’re not recasting the role. That’d be blasphemous and insulting to one of daytime’s greatest villains and actors.
It’s also a quick way for the writers to get in even more hot water with fans. If that’s even possible.
In what would be a curious twist, Doctor Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) could clone Stefano.
They could theoretically, pull this off without insulting the fans or character and actor.
To be fair, it’ll be tricky if the writers attempt to do this as fans didn’t like Stefano’s personality implanted in Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols)’s head via a microchip.
But there could be a way to do it.
They’ve done flashbacks with new young actors as Alice Horton (Sydney K. Smith) and Tom Horton (Zach Chyz).
These were well done and received well, so they could go with a young actor as Stefano. Let’s dig into this possibility.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Rolf has a way
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers love Dr. Rolf, and if there’s a way to bring Stefano back he will. The biggest problem he has is Stefano is dead and only his bones remain.
After ten years, we’d think DNA would break down and be near unreadable, but since it’s not, there’s the opening.
Dr. Rolf would have no problem using Stefano’s DNA to bring him back in another body. The question will be what body and Dr. Rolf won’t be able to transplant any of who Stefano was.
That part of him is dead unless there’s another microchip laying around, but Rolf said at the time it was the only one.
So, the new Stefano would have to be retrained to be like the original. Of course, soap always find a way to work around this.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Existing character or new one?
As we mentioned above, who would be Stefano’s new body?
They could go the ‘safe’ route and have it be Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barish), but that’s too close to the microchip storyline for our liking.
So, it’d be a new face, and like with Tom and Alice, it’d be an homage while bringing an old villain to life.
Honestly, we think it’d be a pretty cool way to bring the Phoenix back without doing disservice to the original character.
He’d be a new character with new quirks and habits. Everyone would think he’s a fake and it’d allow him to reclaim his place. It’d open so many chances to go in different directions than the original, making him his own man.
And to do that he’ll have to go to war with the other DiMeras and that would be so awesome. If it’s done right.
