‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers confirm that the soap has seriously botched a potential pairing that could have been epic. We knew Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Cherie Jimenez) and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) only slept together to stick it to Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). Soap fans know two characters who seemingly hate each other could never be together (wink wink).
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Stefan’s Betrayal Was Too Much For Gabi
Stefan cheated on Gabi when he slept with Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun). When Gabi found out, she was livid. She was only concerned about getting revenge on her husband and making his life a living hell.
So when crazy, Connie Viniski (Julie Dove) suggested that Gabi sleep with someone else to even the score. Naturally, she picked the brother who hates him.
Gabi and EJ had sex, and the plan was to let Stefan find them together. But when Gabi started to have second thoughts, EJ was understanding and told her that if she changed her mind, that was okay.
But since it’s a soap, of course, Stefan walked into the room the next morning. When he saw Gabi’s clothes on the floor, he realized what had transpired.
We figured that would be it until Gabi’s psycho assistant tried to kill her when she planted a bomb in the not-so-secret room of the DiMera mansion.
Fortunately, EJ heroically rescued Gabi in time and got her to the hospital. When she woke up, EJ was by her bedside. Days teased, putting them together as it looked like this would be the end of their war and possibly the beginning of something wonderful.
Stefan’s deranged mother, Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel), signed and sent divorce papers to Gabi’s home. Gabi doesn’t know Stefan wasn’t the one who signed them, but it’s irrelevant because Brandon Barash is now off the soap.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Many Fans Think Of “Stabi” As Endgame
While many fans think of Stefan and Gabi as endgame, they would have been no match for Gabi and EJ. It would have been the chance for the soap to showcase a new pairing with some life and energy behind them.
The show has so many stale, boring couples and not enough fresh, exciting partners in crime. Gabi and EJ had sizzling chemistry and a recipe for pure fire, but the writers foolishly opted not to explore it.
Instead, sticking to what the viewers think they want. It became abundantly clear this week when EJ and Gabi were arguing in the square. EJ found Gabi sitting alone at a table and told her he’d give her a chance to apologize after they discovered a letter in Stefan’s room that he supposedly wrote to EJ (Vivan forged it, but Gabi and EJ don’t know that.)
In the letter, “Stefan” said he’d never be able to get past Gabi and EJ sleeping together. Once Gabi heard that, she ran downstairs and went to sign the divorce papers. EJ came in and tried to comfort her, but Gabi lost her mind. She told EJ this was all his fault.
On this one, we’re team EJ. Gabi had a childish and infuriating reaction to Stefan’s goodbye letter. Instead of taking responsibility for her role in the divorce, Gabi is back to blaming EJ for everything that goes wrong in her life.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: A Plot Point To Drive A Wedge Between Gabi And Stefan
Gabi yelled at EJ for destroying her marriage, and EJ gave her as good as he got. Gabi, who was so thankful to EJ for saving her life, was now suddenly spewing venom at the same person who tried to comfort her before she signed the divorce papers.
Gabi showed no character growth whatsoever as she kept telling EJ everything was his fault. Cue JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) entering the square to defend Gabi. While watching this ridiculous scene, it became painfully apparent that Gabi and EJ’s tryst was just a plot point to drive a wedge between her and Stefan.
If so, what was the point of him saving her life? Why didn’t Stefan find her and save her? We blame the writers for misleading us on this one.
In the Day of Days promo, we can see the show pairing EJ with Belle Black (Martha Madison) and Gabi with JJ, which are both very safe and predictable pairings. Why? Because it’s been done before.
We’ll have to see what the new writers will do when their work is featured starting in spring 2025. We hope the soap takes more chances that viewers may not like at first but will pay off big time.
