‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Joy Is Chloe Lane’s Little Sister
For those DOOL fans who need a refresher course on who the heck Joy is and why she’s suddenly back, let’s get you up to speed.
Longtime fans know that Nancy Wesely (Patrika Darbo) and Craig Wesely (Kevin Spirtas) are Joy’s parents, and that Joy is the little sister of Chloe Lane (Nadja Borlin).
Joy was conceived with the thought in mind that she might be a bone marrow donor match for Chloe, who was suffering from leukemia at the time.
It turned out that Joy was a match, which was wonderful. However, Joy’s origin story always made her feel like an afterthought, as if she were only born to save her sister.
Once Chloe was healthy again, Nancy, Craig, and Joy left town for two decades. In October 2024, Joy returned to Salem with a plan: to become an actress and score a part on Body & Soul.
Lucky for Joy, Salem was still filming the infamous “soap within a soap,” Body & Soul, in Salem back then, and Joy befriended fellow soap actress, Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens).
However, Joy didn’t realize she had come close to sleeping with Chanel’s husband, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman). Johnny only hooked up with Joy because he incorrectly assumed his wife was sleeping with Alex.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Alex Slept with Joy Because He Couldn’t Be with Stephanie
When Chanel discovered the truth, she was furious. So, Joy ended up hitting the sheets with another Body & Soul actor, Alex.
Alex only slept with Joy because he couldn’t be with his true love, Stephanie, while they were working together on Body & Soul.
Once the show relocated to Los Angeles and production in Salem ended, Stephanie and Alex reunited and Joy was left heartbroken.
Joy discovered she was pregnant and lied to Alex and Stephanie when she got her test results at the hospital. She claimed the test came back negative.
Joy soon left Salem and headed for New York City. Now, she’s back thanks to Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark). Jeremy, of course, wants to be with Stephanie.
Yet, we’re unclear about Joy’s agenda. However, AlexAnn Hopkins, the actress who plays Joy, has assured the audience that she does indeed have one.
Joy definitely wants something. Does she truly only want Alex to meet his daughter, Kelsey, and share a bond with her? Or is there more to it?
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Is Joy Going to Go After What She Wants?
The most obvious answer is that she wants Alex. However, she could also want a piece of the Kiriakis pie.
It may not have started that way when Alex and Joy slept together, but since Joy has felt like an afterthought for most of her life, she may think she’s owed.
She may even be deluding herself into thinking that she, Alex, and baby Kelsey can be a happy little family. We have to wonder exactly what Jeremy told Joy about Alex and Stephanie’s marriage.
Jeremy could have shared the gritty details with Joy that there is some trouble in paradise. She may be thinking that this baby is not only the way to Alex’s heart, but also her ticket to claiming some of the Kiriakis fortune.
Let’s not forget: Stephanie isn’t too keen on the idea of having kids. Will Alex’s little girl, Kelsey, be the very thing that comes between her and Alex? If Joy decides to go after Alex, she and this baby might just give Stephanie a run for her money!
AlexAnn Hopkins dished to Soap Opera Digest on the return of her character, Joy,
“If there’s one thing about Joy, she has an agenda. And there’s no reason she’d be back in Salem if that agenda didn’t revolve around Alex, the father of her kid!”
The actress added,
“She’s more of a mama bear now. I think that gives her a lot of confidence to really go for what she wants, and everybody will see what that is. Her main goal is just to protect her daughter and give her the best experience in life possible.”
