‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers find that Sal Stowers is not a fan of the twist that has been written into her character, Lani’s family lineage on the long running soap.
Stowers recently opened up about the latest Price family storyline that is brewing on DOOL, admitting she didn’t know that Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) is really Lani’s mother, not her aunt as she was introduced to audiences. But she did know something was up.
“It’s weird,” Stowers said, “I kind of knew it was coming. They didn’t tell me for a while, but something just wasn’t clicking.”

However, when all was revealed, Stowers didn’t quite have the reaction the show runners were hoping for.
“When I found out she was going to be my mother my heart sank. The first thing I thought was, ‘Oh no! Abe’s [Carver- James Reynolds] not going to be Lani’s father.’”
Stowers said the twist was initially confusing for her, simply for the fact that Lani was brought on the show as Abe’s long lost daughter. “That was the whole reason my character was brought to Salem. So, for me, it didn’t make any sense at first.”
Stowers continued to say that Lani’s parents being Paulina and her abusive ex-boyfriend and not Abe and Tamara Price (Marilyn McCoo) made her “deeply saddened”, partly because she loved the connection between Lani and Abe, and partly because of the connection between Stowers and Reynolds.
“I love Lani being Abe’s daughter and everything they’ve worked through,” Stowers explained, “and everybody knows I have this crazy ridiculous connection with James Reynolds. I think so highly of James. He’s such a legend. He’s worked so hard in the industry. I’m there to lift him up, to add value to his stories, and to create with him. I didn’t want anything to be taken away from him”
However, though Stower’s initial reaction was ‘Wait. No. I don’t want this to happen. I don’t like it,” she has come around to the idea.
Seeing things from head writer, Ron Carlivati and his writing team’s point of view, Stowers understands they are creating a storyline to benefit all the players on the canvas and “at the end of the day, it’s going to make the fans fall more in love with the characters.”
