Days of Our Lives spoilers confirm that Peyton Meyers is leaving the role of Doug Williams III. His final airdate is set for Friday, July 25.
Meyer’s first appearance was December 3, 2024. Now, just shy of eight months later, the troubled grandson of the late Doug William’s (Bill Hayes) will exit from Days.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Holly And Arianna Have Been Kidnapped Because Of Doug’s Past Mistakes
Doug realizes that his past mistakes led to Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) and Arianna Horton (Marrissa Reyes) being kidnapped. The only choice is for him to leave Salem to protect the people he’s closest to.
The character’s major storyline involved him stealing the late Alice Horton’s (Francis Reid) precious family heirloom from a time capsule during his grandfather’s memorial.
It all started out promising when Julie met Doug at her late husband’s gravesite and insisted that he move into the Horton household. She felt that Doug had sent her a little piece of him through Doug.
With a special link to a legendary family, Doug had a strong chance to become a valuable and beloved character. Unfortunately, the soap never seemed to allow Doug to find his footing.
Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) was devastated when she discovered that the necklace was missing.

When she found out that Doug pilfered the iconic piece of jewelry, she didn’t hesitate to kick him out of the house and banish him from her life.
Doug floundered as a character. His friendship with Holly was also promising, but now that she’s been kidnapped, the bond they shared is broken.
Now, everyone wants Doug to leave town, the fans included. It seems like the character was relegated to being the resident troublemaker, rendering him significantly undeveloped.
The show teased a potential romance between Doug and Holly when Doug admitted his true feelings for Holly at the Horton cabin.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Doug Says Goodbye To Julie As His Potential As A Character Goes Unfulfilled
However, it was inevitable that Tate Black (Leo Howard) and Holly would eventually reunite. The fans were on Team Holly and Tate, and saw Doug as merely a pesky obstacle in the way of the teenage couple.
Despite Doug proclaiming his adoration for Holly, when he met Arianna at the bar, he slept with her that night.
Doug also desperately tried to find Julie’s necklace, which Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) fenced for him. We had hoped Doug would be the one to return the stolen jewelry.
That didn’t happen as Doug never had the opportunity to make amends. Doug made a sincere apology to Julie when he ran into her at Horton Square, but Julie rejected him. When a legendary character rejects a newbie, the fans follow suit.

The fans weren’t so crazy about Doug since his first act in Salem was to rob Julie. It wasn’t a good look. Doug tried time and time again to redeem himself to no avail.
When Doug leaves Salem, Ari is left without a love interest. We have to wonder what will happen with her character. Doug was written into a corner, and the viewers never really warmed up to him.
This week, Doug will stop by the Horton house to say goodbye to Julie. She’ll finally admit to him that he has potential, and she hopes he can turn his life around.
At the very least, Doug and Julie will share an emotional moment as Doug III comes full circle and leaves the canvas with his true potential unfulfilled.
