‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal that Nikki Crawford recently dished to TV Insider about becoming the new Lexie Carver.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Dr. Rolf and EJ Are Prepared to Wake Lexie Up
The identity of the person inside the glowing cryogenic chamber thatDr. Wilhelm Rolf(Richard Wharton) and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerreigel) have been working on is indeed Lexie.
Crawford knows that it’s going to be tough to step into Renee Jones shoes, but she’s up for the challenge. Jones was the last actress to portray Lexie from 1993 to 2012.
Crawford told TV Insider,
“What she did was iconic, and she really created something wonderful. It’s understandable why audiences why the audiences loved and were invested in her, and then were torn apart when she left.”

She continued,
“I saw it more as an opportunity to honor what the audiences have loved, while bringing truth to who Lexie is today and creating upon what Renee had previously built.”
The actress added, “So, it was exciting, but also there was a bit of trepidation just because I know the love that people have for Renee.”
Lexie tragically died in Abe Carver’s(James Reynolds) arms, making fans everywhere reach for their tissues. The couple had one last picnic together, which was a very memorable moment in soap history.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Crawford Didn’t Know She Would Be Playing Lexie At First
Crawford, who doesn’t personally watch soaps, still recognized the enormous value of the legacy character. She did her due diligence to make the story as believable as possible.
Crawford’s research into the character’s rich history proved extremely helpful to the actress. She also bonded with her new castmates.
She told the outlet, “James Reynolds and I have such great chemistry and had so much fun.” Crawford also mentioned that she and Jackee Harry, who plays Paulina Price Carver,also “had a blast.”

She also shared that she wanted to approach the storyline by telling Lexie’s truth. “I really honored who she was, but I also grounded her in who she is.”
Crawford added,
“I would say at her core, Lexie is driven by love. Her family is everything to her. And now that she’s been given a second chance at life, that really raises the stakes.”
Crawford started filming with DOOL last summer. The actress explained that Lexie’s return would have a ripple effect throughout Salem. Lexie may be ready and willing to fightfor the people she loves.

She previewed,
“Her return is going to shake things up, especially with Abe now being married to Paulina. She may come in with love, but she’s not coming in quietly.”
Crawford has definitely learned to embrace her new role and wants the viewers to be just as passionate about the character’s return,
“Hopefully, audiences will come along for the ride, and be excited for what I created with the new Lexie.”
Nikki Craword makes her debut as Lexie on Friday March 6th. Watch for her upcoming first scene.
