One of the biggest surprises over the last couple of weeks has been the new bestie gossip team of Marlena Evans (Diedre Hall) and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow).
It’s an unlikely pairing, but it’s also pretty fun seeing them relish in exchanging the latest news.
There’s something fun and relaxing about seeing them enjoying each other’s company after being on shaky ground for the longest time, and it’s arguably the best thing to come out of the whole orchid fiasco.
Plus, they help keep us up to date on the goings on in Salem with some tongue in cheek humor as well as offering each other advice.
This definitely isn’t they type of thing ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers expected when they returned to Salem after being dead, but then beating the devil at his own game would be a bonding experience for anyone.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Plenty to unload
Of course, they both have a lot to unload with their family situations, especially Kate. She has to wonder at times if it’s her that’s helped lead to her sons being idiots.
More likely, they got that from their fathers, but the scheming and conniving, yeah, that’s all Kate.
It helps that Marlena is a sympathetic ear, but she also have some of her own problems to share, or she will when Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) is ready to strangle his son and Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien).
But that’s just a fringe benefit. They’re providing us a service by sharing and laughing at the misfortune of those that deserve it, but we have to admit we miss Lady Whistleblower.
Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) has a great reason to be absent from his duties, but could he be replaced?
We don’t see it going that far, but having them and Lady Whistleblower countering each other when Leo gets back to work would be fun.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Stirring the pot
We can already see Kate’s eyeroll when Leo tries to pump them for information, and Marlena will have a nice zinger in the form of a question ready to go.
It really isn’t fair that Leo will be outnumbered, but then we may not get to see this depending on how his storyline goes.
Still, few things will be as enjoyable as listening to Marlena and Kate dish the dirt over cups of tea, and we’re sure Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) will join them at some point, but this feels like a new dynamic is forming.
After all, what trouble could a couple of gossiping gals get into in Salem?
