‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal that the February 10th episode of DOOL was superb and showcased several performances, namely by those who portray the various members of the DiMera family, that deserve some major recognition.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: We Aren’t Only Saying Goodbye to Stefano, But Also the Legendary Joe Mascolo
The entire episode was flawless and reminded me why I absolutely adore the DiMera family. There is no other family on any soap opera that, in my opinion, compares to this one. Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo) terrorized beloved characters in Salem and loved his family fiercely in equal measure.
It’s a reasonable conclusion that there hasn’t been a soap villain who comes even close to Stefano. It also looks like DOOL has finally put its most fascinating, compelling, and devilishly delicous villain to rest.
Today was also finally the tribute that the incredible and legendary Joe Mascolo, who passed away in December 2018, so richly deserved.
We know that the DiMeras will continue to be the most formidable, devious, but highly entertaining family that they are. A family that would make the great Stefano DiMera beam with pride.
As far as the performances go, I have to start with the obvious: Dan Feuerreigel, who brilliantly plays EJ DiMera, and never fails to dazzle me, gave a tour de force as he said his final goodbye to his father, Stefano.
Stacy Haiduk, otherwise known as Salem’s own not to be messed with, bada**chick, Kristen DiMera, is another one who consistently delivers powerhouse performances and never ceases to amaze me.
Of course, it was a small ceremony that started with the two siblings bickering and Kristen blaming EJ for Rachel Black’s (Alice Halsey) current situation. However, it led up to a surprisingly touching farewell to their beloved patriarch, and the pariah of Salem.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The Torch Has Been Passed On
Kristen and EJ gave very eloquent speeches about being proud to carry on the DiMera name. Kristen spoke first and admitted that, while she was furious with her father, when she was in his presence, Stefano managed to capture her heart.
When EJ spoke, he repeated Kristen’s sentiment, but in a slightly different way. Dan’s performance was raw and believable as both the grieving son and the DiMera heir apparent.
Billy Flynn, who I am heartbroken will no longer be playing Chad DiMera, had me tear up when he told his brother, EJ, how important he is to him and how much he loves him. It was truly touching, as Chad is the epitome of kindness and the “good DiMera.”
I am sad to see Flynn leave, despite the fact that the news he’d soon be off DOOL was reported months ago. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Chad with such relatability, honesty, and heart. Not to mention those beautiful blue eyes of his.
Flynn is on Y&R, and Chad won’t be the same. Imo, he’s best suited to play Chad and will always be Chad to me, no matter who steps into his shoes. Every actor in those scenes was brilliant.
Then, the grand finale, when Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) gave EJ Stefano’s ring, was the best moment of the show.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The DiMera Family Will Continue to Thrive Under EJ’s Leadership as He’s Now Wearing Stefano’s Ring
Fans think that Stefano’s ring holds some secret mystical power and was the key to his numerous rebirths and resurrections.
EJ is the perfect heir to the DiMera throne. He’s just the right balance of calculated, cunning, witty, charming, and intimidating. Yet, somehow, EJ also has that hint of vulnerability that makes him one of the best characters on the show.
EJ spoke about how Stefano had a gift for inspiring profound loyalty among his employees and everyone who served him throughout his life.
Now, EJ has been specifically chosen to carry on the DiMera legacy in his father’s name, which means now EJ has that superpower. He’s ready and fully capable for the task his father has entrusted in him.
I predict we have yet to see Dan’s most powerful performances, despite the countless times he’s knocked his role as EJ out of the park.
As far as the DiMera family is concerned, EJ will undoubtedly take a bit of a dark turn and be more like his father. I think as far as EJ is concerned, the best is yet to come.
The final scene featured Stefano listening to his favorite symphony. It demonstrated Joe Mascolo’s indomitable screen presence. Though the Phoenix may never rise again, we know that Mascolo would greatly approve of how his alter ego’s story ended.
