On Thursday, November 9 ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers and fans everywhere said goodbye to Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) as the actress is leaving the show after a stellar run.
She spoke about it several months ago and how she tried to negotiate a more favorable contract to give her more free time to be with her family, but the show wouldn’t budge and her last scene played on Thursday.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – Only Camila Banus Could Take Down Gabi DiMera
As Gabi was taken away in handcuffs to await her trial, fans have been left wondering what’s the future of the character.
There are a couple of options, and one is pretty much as close to unanimous as possible by the fans, and that’s recasting the role.
To be honest, it’s impossible to envision anyone else playing Gabi, and that kind of pressure and expectation is unfair to put on another actress, though it is an intriguing prospect.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Replacement or no?
Since fans really don’t want to see a replacement Gabi, ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers don’t think we’ll see one. Not that the show listens to fans too often or they wouldn’t have some couple breaking up to reform another, but maybe they are this time.
When Victoria Konefal left the show, they didn’t recast Ciara Brady or send Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) off into the sunset never to be seen again.
Instead, the show kept Ben around and gave him other storylines for Robert’s sake when they didn’t have to.
In that regard, we don’t think Gabi will be recast or replaced, but we’ve learned to never say never.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Awaiting Camila’s return
The other options are to kill Gabi off screen, which will have fans ready to riot, or have her locked away until further notice.
Another possibility is Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barish) is able to clear her name, but Gabi leaves Salem and all the bad memories behind, and he could join her. In which case, enter a new character for Brandon.
One thing that seems for sure is it wasn’t Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) or even EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) that took Gabi down, though they tried their best.
In the end, it took the actress herself to take Gabi away from us and leave on such an amazing acting moment that tore our hearts out.
We wish Camila the best in her endeavors and hopefully we’ll see her back in Salem at some point.
