Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy says that Tom Brady needs to come back to New England and retire as a Patriot and that the legendary quarterback has “no love for Tampa Bay”. TMZ spoke with Dave and says he thinks Brady really is done and that he will make Foxborough his final stop.
Portnoy told TMZ, “I think he’s going to sign probably a 1-day contract with the Pats and retire as a Patriot. That’s where his heart is.”
Dave Portnoy Says Tom Brady Should Retire As A Patriot As “He Has No Love For Tampa Bay”
He also believes that all is well between Brady and the Patriots after the quarterback “snubbed them” out of his retirement message, calling it a “mistake”. The next day he shared a video showcasing the Patriots and thanked the fans.
Portnoy is a loyal, do-or-die Patriots fan and was even arrested in 2015 at NFL headquarters after Brady was suspended by the league for Deflategate. As for Tampa Bay, Dave thinks the last two seasons meant very little to nothing and it doesn’t come close to the love Brady has for and from the Patriots.
“He has no love for Tampa Bay,” Dave says … “And he wants to retire where it all began, and where he built his legacy. And it’s definitely not Tampa.”
While Brady went down to Tampa Bay and won a Super Bowl the first year there, Brady will always be remembered as a Patriot and his loyal fans would love to see him retire under the red, white and blue. As of now, there hasn’t been any news from Brady, but I would suspect he’ll be up in New England soon. I can’t imagine Brady retiring as a Buccaneer.
