While Dave Chapelle has had his share of controversy this week concerning his Netflix comedy special, The Closer, it seems he’s doing well on at least one front, and that is with his “Untitled” documentary that was screened at the Hollywood bowl amid the likes of Snoop Dogg, Lizzo, Nas, Jon Hamm, and the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Chapelle said right at the start, “I don’t know what to tell you except I’m a bad motherf*cker.” and then proceeded to say that he wanted to cancel “cancel culture” with a “kindness conspiracy”.

It seems that he’s coming from a good place at least, he says that the one ill he sees among today’s society is that we have to “trust one another”. I mean, that’s one of the ills in society but I don’t know if it’s the top ill plaguing society, but we’ll give Chapelle some points for effort here.

However, this is still Dave Chapelle we’re talking about, so when he took the stage he took to task all teh major networks and social media as well by saying, “F*ck Twitter, F*ck NBC News, ABC News, all these stupid ass networks.

I’m not talking to them. I’m talking to you, ”this is real life” I mean, he did say in his special that he didn’t mind being cancelled on Twitter because Twitter “is not a real place”, but the networks are so…

Stevie Wonder seconded his words by saying, “We need to cancel hate.” well said, Stevie. True to his word, Chapelle did not crack any LGBT jokes when he took the stage, nor did he even mention the controversy surrounding his special, but it might be seen as “too little, too late” by some, especially some fans who are in the LGBT community

Still, the majority of Hollywood seems to still like and appreciate him so, I guess there’s that, and it’s not like Chapelle is scared of stepping away becaus he did it before, walked away from $50M with comedy central. If he ever did truly get cancelled he would probably just collect his royalties and laugh all the way to the bank.

He did say this was the last comedy special he’d be doing for awhile.. so maybe he’ll stick to documentaries? That would be a switch. Stay tuned!!!
