Peta, for her part, was involved in the conflict when her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy was stuck in Ukraine amid the Russian attack. And given that she was at home looking after their child, there was the obvious apprehension over whether or not her husband was going to make it out alive.

Although he managed to return to the United States, the very fact of the matter is that the couple have been through a lot. And so it showed in Peta’s reaction. In a post to her fans on Instagram, we can see that she is in tears.

The image was accompanied by the following comments: “I’m struggling to get through some days. Sometimes I have great days, other days I have terrible days because I just can’t get this out of my head.

“I’ve walked those streets, I’ve been there. It is such a beautiful country. And the children that are dying right now…” Aside from the pain that she is going through, there is no denying that Maksim is feeling the same.

The star has family in the country by virtue of the fact that he is Ukrainian. Not only that, but he has made it clear that he will return to Europe in order to aid the Ukrainian people, who have been displaced to neighboring countries.

And in the process of doing so, he did reveal that he felt guilty leaving Ukraine, thus suffering from survivor’s syndrome in the process. In a statement at the time, Maksim stated: “I spent the last couple of days with survivor’s remorse, and I’m currently working on an opportunity to go back.

“Probably  sometime next week.” Peta and Maksim have been through a lot of late. The only thing they can do is continue to stay strong and offer whatever help they can in their own way. And the fans will be there to support them every step of the way to make sure that they are fine.
