‘Counting On’ patriarch, Jim Bob Duggar has seen his political aspirations dashed, losing’s a special primary election for Arkansas State Senate only days after oldest son Josh Duggar was found guilty of possessing child pornography and oldest daughter, Jana Duggar’s child endangerment allegations were revealed.
The former TLC reality star previously served in the Arkansas House of Representatives and has now unsuccessfully run for both state and U.S. Senate. Fellow Republican candidates Colby Fulfer and Steve Unger will be heading into a runoff election, scheduled for Jan. 11. It was reported that Jim Bob Duggar only received about 15% of the vote.
“I want to thank those of you who voted for me, volunteered, contributed, and supported me in my race for Arkansas State Senate District 7,” Jim Bob said in a Facebook statement. “I am so honored to have been surrounded by some really great people in this campaign.”

He went on to vaguely reference his children’s legal woes, stating, “It has been a difficult season for our family, so I am particularly grateful to those of you who have offered your prayers and encouragement.”
As any true patriot and conservative would, Jim Bob wrote, “I love our country, our state, and our Northwest Arkansas community. I will always do all I can to help advance conservative candidates and causes.”
After extending his congratulations to the remaining candidates, Jim Bob concluded his concession statement by saying, “Above all, I am thankful to God for His love and kindness toward us and pray He will cause His face to shine on our state and nation.”
God is apparently doing double duty with the Duggars, “sustaining” the family with His grace after Josh was found guilty of one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. The eldest Duggar child faces up to 40 years in prison and fines up to half a million dollars. This only 6 and a half weeks after the birth of his seventh child with long0suffering wife, Anna Duggar.
Meanwhile, Jana’s child endangerment case was a result of one of the children she was baby-sitting slipping out of the house and being found on or near a road by a neighbor. Some reports say Jana was asleep on the job.
Jana explained on Instagram, “The raw facts: I was babysitting a few months ago when one of the children wandered outside alone. A passerby who saw the child called the police. This resulted in a written citation, as well as a follow-up with child welfare who concluded that it was an accident, and the child was unharmed.”
Jana will appear in court on January 10, 2022.
