Coronation Street spoilers finds that it has been a tough year for the Barlows. However, one of the saving graces has been the rekindling romance between Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and Carla Connor (Alison King). The two have found each other again after having a break during their time away from the street.
The year has been rough for both characters, but they seem to be stronger than ever. Carla went through a mental breakdown this year after feeling guilty for the death of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) from the roof collapse, while Peter fell off the wagon and began drinking again. However, they have come through the other end stronger, but their happily ever after may now need to avoid an almighty bump in the road.
Coronation Street Spoilers: Blast From Peter’s Past
Relationships always face tests in the world of soap, and Peter and Carla will get their test when a returning character from Peter’s past will re-emerge on the cobbles. Sally Lindsay is set to reprise her role as Shelly Unwin, who had a very ill-fated relationship with Peter.
The two were married in 2003, but Shelly was left heartbroken after learning that Peter was already married to another woman. The truth always comes out, and Shelly was devastated when she learned that Peter not only was married to another woman but also had a child with the same wife. The unlucky in love character continued to try and find her Mr Right, and that led her to Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward). The unlikely pairing were always destined to fail as Charlie constantly belittled her and cheated on her multiple times throughout their relationship.
Coronation Street Spoilers: Shelly Gains Revenge
Shelly finally got the courage to leave Charlie in 2006 when she embarrassed him at the altar. However, a one-night stand would change the entire complexity of their relationship as he would fall pregnant with his child. She got further revenge when she admitted to Charlie that she was pregnant with his baby, before leaving the cobbles. She claimed that he would never see his child, and that was the very last of Shelly we saw. However, she has admitted that he is open to returning to the soap this year, and would likely bring her child with her. The unlikely return would undoubtedly stir up trouble on the cobbles and could have a damaging effect on Carla and Peter’s relationship.
