Coronation Street Spoilers finds that it is going to be a hard Christmas on the cobbles for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) as he learns that his brother has passed away. Roy only learned of his brother a few weeks ago, and instantly he was told of the ordeal that Richard (Paul Bown) has been suffering from. The brother has been wrapped up in bed for months with a terminal illness and being cared for by his goth daughter Nina (Mollie Gallagher).

    Coronation Street Spoilers: Richard’s Illness

Richard has been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, and the illness has left him bed-stricken. Nina has done a good job of looking after her father, but she has been persuaded to go back to college after ditching her classes to look after Richard. However, with Roy now on the scene, he has been adamant that he wants to help to relieve the duties that Nina has had to do. He has handed extra shifts over at the café to another employee so he can spend time getting to know his brother before his imminent death. But Richard is going to pass away in emotional scenes due to air around the festive period it has been revealed.

Coronation Street Spoilers: Roy Unable To Prevent Richard’s Death

With Nina at her classes, Roy is faced with the sole responsibility of looking after his brother. However, he is called away from Richard on urgent café business after there has been an incident. Richard is adamant that he goes to take care of his business as his nurse is scheduled to arrive shortly. Roy is forced by his brother to attend to the issue but tragedy strikes when the nurse doesn’t show up. Richard moves out of bed wondering whether she has come in but he didn’t hear the door, but within a few steps he falls to the ground. With nobody around to help. Nina calls him to check up on her father, but he lies to her and tells her that he is fine. Roy shows up shortly afterwards and he is horrified to see him lying on the ground unconscious. He immediately calls the ambulance, but they are unable to resuscitate him and he is pronounced dead at home. Roy is faced with telling Nina the news, but she doesn’t take it warmly and blames Roy for his fall, and ultimately, his death. Stricken with guilt, Roy asks Nina to move in with him, but will she forgive him and take him up on his generous offer?
