On November 29th, when Ethan Crumbley was found to be searching ammo on his cell phone during class and reported to the school guidance counselor. After that session, Ethan’s Mother, Jennifer Crumbley, sent him a text stating, “LOL, I’m not mad at you.

You have to learn not to get caught.” I think it’s safe to say that Jennifer Crumbley is from a way different school of parenting than the one that most of us grew up with. Aren’t parents supposed to teach their kids the things they aren’t supposed to be doing?

Communication between Ethan Crumbley and Parents emerges

Teaching them to take accountability and responsibility for their actions and disciplining them when they don’t do right? While we don’t know the full extent of her parenting skills, it’s obvious she didn’t view this as a teachable moment. Perhaps if she did, the next day would never have happened.

On November 30th, a teacher spotted a note lying on Crumbley’s desk which prompted her to take a picture of it on her cell phone, it had really disturbing things in it, a drawing of a semi-automatic handgun pointing to the words “The thoughts won’t stop, help me.” on another part of the note was a drawing of a bullet, with the words “blood everywhere.” written above it.

Between the drawing of the gun and the bullet was the drawing of a person who appeared to have been shot twice and was bleeding, below that figure was the drawing of a laughing emoji. Further down on the note there was written, “My life is useless.” to the right of that sentence said, “The world is dead.” this is the note that prompted the school to summon the parents for a meeting.

Even though they showed up, neither parent asked Ethan where his gun was, or if he had brought his gun to school that day and they left without Ethan and he was allowed to return to the classroom because it was decided that he was not a threat to himself or his classmates.

However, at 1:22PM, after the news of the active school shooter went public, Jennifer Crumbley sent her son a text saying, “Ethan, don’t do it.” at 1:37PM, James Crumbley notified the authorities that a gun was missing from his house and that he believed that his son was the shooter.

If Jennifer and James Crumbley had prior knowledge of Ethan’s desire to shoot up his high school, and that’s what the text implies, then that would explain why they are the ones receiving involuntary manslaughter charges. Our hearts go out to the families who were hurt by this tragedy. We hope that justice is served, and will keep you updated on the progress. Stay tuned!
